OS
Windows 11 pro
Hello
I am new to virtualization but have followed YouTube and Google. I am only a medium skilledd user and that's an exageration.
Everything goes well except I cannot activate windows or activate within the virtual machine.
I have tried to remove my previous licenses but am unsure of this.
I have Vmware workstation pro currently on my taskbar but I can't use it well unless I activate it.
Is there someone who could help me check out previous steps and give me further directions?
My BIOS is Asus Z790-v and I have vitualization under Turn Windows features on or off.
I think I have to clean up first. I have Windows 11 pro as a host and VmWare Workstation pro as a guest. All works well except the lack of activation.
TY

1- Windows 11, the host, needs to be activated with a valid license.
2- VMware Workstation/Player does not require licensing for personal use.
3- Any Windows 11 running as a VM guest will need a separate valid license.

"I have Windows 11 pro as a host and VmWare Workstation pro as a guest".
The second half of your sentence is non sensical ;
VMware Workstations Pro is the software that allows you to run the guest(s) OS(es), linux or/& Windows.

If I understand you correctly I can use a linux Dist with no problem about activation I think but if it's Windows it requires a separate license to be activated.
So because I have windows operating system and I'm using Windows as a guest the activation wouldn't work anyway

I really admire your willingness to keep on learning but we do make mistakes while learning at any age, young and not so young.
You are absolutely correct, MS consider the guest system as a separate entity. So, there is a need for a separate license.
And it's not because the host is Windows, a Linux host would be free, but running W11 as a VM would still require a MS license.
Linux has many distros that will not require a cent from you and even Windows 11 Pro licenses can be had for less than US$20.
