Unable to extend volume

In Disk 0 (below), I'd like to add some space from the unallocated block to the last volume (15.23 GB). When I right-click on the last volume, however, the Extend Volume option is disabled. Why? How can I extend it? Thanks for any tips.

The last partition is probably a system recovery partition. Why you want to extend it? I would create a new partition on the unallocated space and use that instead.
