Unable to log into my Microsoft account.

Now, please, before you all jump on this thread and ask why I want to log in to my Microsoft online account, there are some software programs I want to install that I can only get from the Microsoft Store.

Let me explain what is happening.

Current login status is a setup Local Account (Administrator), not a Built-in Admin account.

When I try to sign in using Settings > Accounts > Sign-in Options > Password Sign in with your account's password > Use a password to sign in to Windows, apps, and services > Add, it only gives me the option to create a new password. I don't want to set another new password, I just want to login using my existing username and password.

All other options to login are unavailable

Facial recognition (Windows Hello)
This option is currently unavailable
Fingerprint recognition (Windows Hello)

PIN (Windows Hello)

Security key
Sign in with a physical security key

If I try to use the sign-in box below the

One account for everything Microsoft
Access your favourite Microsoft products and services with
just one account. Your Microsoft account connects you to the
files, photos, people, and content you care about most.

The box is blank and then disappears.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

You should be able to launch the Microsoft Store, click the person icon and enter your MS account details. That should authenticate you to the store without needing to switch to an MS account for the device.

If you do want to sign into the device with an MS account, from the settings page either from the home screen or from the Accounts section click the sign-in button.

I use a Local Account (Admin).

Open MS Store > top line click on the Sign On icon in the MS Store, I get a choice of my MS Accounts.
Clicking on one of those to highlight > Continue > Other ways to sign in > Use my password > put in password > Sign in.

Occasionally I may have to get a verification code sent to another Email Account.

"Settings > Accounts > Sign-in Options " that is the sign on Windows with an MS Account route.

Wrong route for just the MS Store.

Leave your existing local account alone.

Create a new user account for use with your MSAccount - so either:
1 Create the new one as an MSAccount-linked user account from the start,
Add MS User Account - ElevenForumTutorials
or
2 Create a new local account then convert that new one into an MSAccount-linked user account.
The advantage of this two-step method is that you can set up the UserName that Windows uses to refer to this account and hence avoid any future confusion about which account is which.
Add Local User Account - ElevenForumTutorials
Switch to Microsoft Account from Local Account - ElevenForumTutorials
By way of example, my day-to-day user account is a local one named Denis whilst my additional MSAccount-linked user account is named Doc. I never get these names mixed up if I'm having to jump through hoops sorting problems out.

Denis

Update: I decided to setup a new profile. After setting up the basics profiles, I went back into the original profile to start copying everything over. However, for some reason, I tried logging into my Microsoft account, and it let me in without a problem. I'm wondering if setting my administrator's account first triggered something on my account. Anyway, that is me set up and running, and I was able to download Android Studio to try and run my treadmill software. Is there a section on here where I can get some help?

Thank you to everyone for your help
