@Bree
Are you still using MOS 2010!? I love it! (y)
I prefer to use MS Office, however old, over any of the free office suites. There's something about the MS versions that just feels, somehow, more 'comfortable'. I'll use whatever MS Office came pre-installed and licensed on any of the used PCs that I have bought. For those that didn't have any MSO I'll add LibreOffice.

On that W11 machine (System One below) it's the free Office 2010 Starter that came with an OEM Win7 machine, was retained in the upgrade to the original W10, then the OS was migrated to a new PC to get the W11 upgrade. On various other machines I continue to use MSO 2003 & 2007.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.

I just bought a new Dell laptop with Windows 11. My older Windows 10 systems runs Office 2003 very well, but seems like Windows 11 installs okay and Word and Excel load okay, but when I attempt to open files using the 'Folder Open' panel the panel does not indicate file listings and then locks up. It seems like some permission is not satisfied or whatever. Any suggestions?

I have Office 2007 on my Win11 Pro machine and haven't duplicated the issue. I go to the icon/emblem in upper left corner then Open, gives the default folder the files are in. Office 2013 shows the same toolbars as earlier versions, don't know if the change reverted back in 2010 or not.

One thing of note is that Office 2007 was the first to use a new formatting of files, denoted difference from the earlier extensions of .doc, .xls, etc., to the addition of the x such as .docx, .xlsx, etc. The new format did call for a Compatibility Pack being installed on Office 2000, Office 2002/XP and Office 2003 to enable opening of those files, these versions have File on the toolbar with its context menu of choices.

I rather dispute you could do it much quicker than cut and paste - I can do that inside 2 seconds.
Depends on the size of the table !!!!!! What about a table with 15 or more columns and 190,000 rows of data !! I´d just run that in Excel and save as either csv or whatever. I don't think cut and paste is going to be quicker although Ctrl+A si good to select the entire document which might not be what one wants if the table is say embedded in an Ms Word document.

I've 220,000 lines in this test MariaDB / MySQL type database !!! but just getting ist 1000 as example. Data is fictitious - no real persons etc so no "data protection stuff" here.

After completing the 22H2 update I tried installing an old program I like to use, Paint Shop Pro 6, with an update file and it installed great, works great! I thought something was wrong. :-) Then, just for kicks, I installed MS Visual Basic Pro 5.0 with updated files and it too ran perfectly!!! Wow, something must be wrong I thought. So, again I installed Office 2003 and wonders never cease, it works like I paid for it!!!!! :love: My opinion of MS is changing. They are actually programming good stuff again. So, even Quicken 2017 went on with one change; using some good advice I copied "C:\Users\%usrname%\AppData\Local\intuit" from my older laptop to the new Win-11 laptop and Quicken runs like a charm. Happy Days Are Here Again, do de la lu lo de da......
