Solved Unable to paste shortcut on second monitor desktop

When I try to use the full context menu and paste a shortcut of a folder to my second monitor's desktop, it ends up on the desktop of my first monitor.

I think you want to use "Duplicate" these displays to do that.
If you use "Extend" then only the left monitor will have the icons and taskbar.

Nope. I have always used "extend these displays" because I have different icons on each monitor.

I use the Extend setting and have the Taskbar set to show on all displays. Working Ok for me.

If you use the context menu's "Send to > Desktop (create shortcut)... it goes to the primary monitor.
But you can drag it to the second monitor, and it will stay there, on Extend

Yeah, but that is just another way Microsoft has ruined my transition to Windows 11.

FWIW, I finally discovered a better way. Hold down the Alt key and click and drag the folder, file, etc. to the second monitor's desktop. Before releasing the mouse, it says "create link to desktop," but it then creates a shortcut in the location you want it after you release the mouse button.

I'm not understanding way you need to use the Alt key. I can just drag and drop between my two monitors.

Your way works but the way I described I can put it on the second monitor without having to move it from the first monitor.

Same for me, using the main monitor to work I can't copy and paste on the secondary. I always have to reduce the windows on the main one to open the file I just pasted because it goes on that no matter where I pasted it.

Any update?

On Windows 11 I found a way where it works for me:

Instead of "Right mouse click --> Paste" do a "Shift right mouse click --> Paste".

I’m not sure how you members have set up your systems, but I can cut from any monitor and paste to any other monitor and whatever I paste stays where I intended it to be pasted, throughout 6 monitors.
