Solved Unable to unpin app from taskbar

I have added the Whatsapp app to the taskbar, but I'm not able to unpin it. I can shift its position, removal from the taskbar is not possible.

I have tried already tried the remedies described here, but it didn't help.

Any thoughts?

Sounds more like action center more than taskbar issue.
Show hide icons is about all there is besides uninstall.

So it is on your taskbar all the time, or only when running?

A screenshot would help to reduce ambiguity.

What happens when you right click on the icon & select Unpin from Taskbar?

Always on the taskbar - like for every icon that I have pinned to it.

Whatsapp is not listed under system tray icons. Even uninstalling Whatsapp did not solve the problem. The "icon" (ok it's rather blank space than an image) is still there incl. the tip text for the app when you place the cursor over it. Of course, clicking has no effect since the app is removed.

Nothing happens when I right click & select Unpin - it just has no effect. Note that the context menu only has an "Unpin" command, not even the app entry which I can see (as a minimum) for all my other taskbar icons.

I ran Registry Cleaner, but also with no effect wrt this issue.

Hello capricorn, and welcome.

You could see if resetting and clearing all pinned items on the taskbar below may remove it. You will have to "Pin to taskbar" the apps you want back afterwards though.

You could also use REVO Uninstaller to just uninstall WhatsApp and clean the leftovers.
Then you can reinstall WhatsApp.
