Solved Unauthorized Windows 11 activation on Windows

Good morning !

I just installed Windows 11 (I bypassed the 2.0 rpm check because my pc does not have the chip)

And since it's a new pc, I decide to activate a license (which I didn't buy). But when I try to activate Windows I have the error: 0x8007007b which appears, I tried to restart the PC / try to activate by phone / by the cmd but nothing, always the same error. I'm trying to reinstall Windows to see if that will fix the problem, if anyone has a solution thank you very much!

Have you typed the key during installation? If you haven't you must go to Settings, System, Activate and then click on Change key. If the key has reached its maximum activation limit, you cannot activate online, you must do it by phone. To trigger phone activation type this code at Windows Terminal or Powershell:
slui 4
and press ENTER to execute.

Possible cause

This issue may occur if the KMS client cannot find the KMS SRV resource records in DNS.

Does the key you used end with -T83GX (Pro) or -H8Q99 (Home)?

If so then it's a generic KMS key and cannot activate Windows on its own. KMS keys are only used on a corporate network which has its own KMS server.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

If the key is illegal we cannot help you. Probably thete are activation instructions where you got it from. I can only tell you that much.

A lot of splaining to do! New PC, no TPM chip and did not buy license. Where did they buy a new but not compatible computer? Why are they trying to use a license they didn't buy? If they can't afford a legit license, they should consider installing Linux.

If you have any Windows 7 legit key or higher you can use that to activate Windows 11. No need to use an illegal key. If you have an old computer with genuine Windows license you can see which is the key using a utility such as Showkeyplus.

He tried to trick us into helping him activate an illegal key. At least he could mask his questions, not ask directly how to activate an illegal key. We aren't that naive.

    Legacy MBR installation, no TPM, no Secure Boot, no WDDM 2.0 graphics drivers, no SSE4.2, cannot get more unsupported ;) This is only my test laptop. I had installed Windows 11 here before upgrading my main PC. For my main PC I use everyday see my 2nd system specs.
