Solved Uninstalled KB5041587 update, now Start Menu is broken

11, (10 as a test secondary)
So i installed KB5041587 to see if i notice any performance improvements based on this: AMD Ryzen Branch Prediction Optimizations Now Available to Windows 11 23H2 ; i saw no real difference (technically i saw decrease in performance.)


I uninstalled KB5041587 and now when i try to use Start Menu/search, i get Critical Error and tells me to sign out.

How do i fix this and anyone have this issue?

If you can’t get to Windows Update via Start Menu
You could try to open run: Keyboard Win key + R I believe
Type in:
ms-settings:windowsupdate

However Windows Key + I should open Settings.

Reinstall the 1587 preview.
Hopefully that fixes it.

Patch Tuesday is this Tuesday.

You can try a restore point but I seriously doubt it would be successful.

You can attempt entering advanced startup (recovery), and do a system reset and keep files. Boot to Advanced Startup (WinRE) in Windows 11 Tutorial

reinstalled it works. thanks! man Windows 11 is buggy. Turns out i can right click the Start Menu to access some settings. My next step was to try to use the Recovery options like " Reset this PC" or try to find usb stick for recovery.

i have bad experience with using restore point on Windows 11 in the pass, it broke everything and undoing the restore point didn't help. i ended up reinstaling and turn off restore point.

In 2-3 months we'll all be on 24H2 and everything will be different... again.
