I forked this project to create installable WU .cab files from the UUP dump .psf and .cab files.

Source : GitHub - SuperflyInc/PSFExtractor: Extract CAB+PSF update for Windows 10/11

Download: Releases · SuperflyInc/PSFExtractor

The way it works is you download the CU files from a KBXXXXX search
Screenshot 2021-10-16 235933.png

Save the files by renaming them from the gibberish they download as to whichever is displayed on screen .. like so
Screenshot 2021-10-16 235526.png

Make sure the PSFExtractor exe is alongside.

Right click the white space in the folder and select "Open in Windows Terminal" - or manually open a command prompt at the download folder root.

Select the exe + space +cab file at the prompt (in PS type first letter of file and tab to get each file beginning with that letter) and press Enter.
Screenshot 2021-10-17 001319.png

It will create the cab file in a folder with the same name as the KB. file

Screenshot 2021-10-16 235819.png

Download and install Add Install CAB Context Menu in Windows 11 Tutorial
Right-click the cab file in the folder and select Install from the context menu

I was not a member of insider preview builds but just a normal member, when I downloaded build .160 iso windows 11 22H2 but when I rebooted and ran window update to update build .160 it didn't update but changed to build .105.
I ran Dr. Abodi`s script to change to the insider preview beta found on this forum.
is this script change back my build from .105 to .160.

Yes, I have not been an Insider for yonks.. so created this for us non-Insiders.

Dr Abodi? LOL - is he really a Dr? he is a good guy though, regarding Windows updates.

It's a Powershell script that downloads and installs the KB.

After downloading unblock it in properties them right click it and select "Run with Powershell"
is it going to delete all my programs?
will I have to clean install it?

No it's just an update like a MS catalog update file except it's a .cab not a .msu - make a backup before installing it - it can be uninstalled under Windows update history.

@Superfly

Are you saying this tool downloads JUST the WU from UUP Dump, without the rest of the Windows ISO?
That would be a GREAT thing.

Or am I mis-understanding?

Yep - it's like downloading the MSU from MS

Fantastic. Now all you need to do it make it much easier to use.

Something like a small install-able or portable, program that you "run", and it opens the UUP DUMP website and allows one to choose the file they want. Then one click and it downloads it to your desktop.

You can do it, I know you can. :)

The problem here is, that only a handful of people understand scripts, etc., well enough to use this.
It needs to be more user friendly. :)

It took me five tries to find the clip containing...
"Ray... for a moment, pretend that I don't know anything about metallurgy, engineering or physics..."

Just substitute... scripts, bat files or programming. :D

BTW the scripts I write are not to be 'read' just 'open source apps' that can be run.

Ok, here's the problem. In your 1st post, you say... "The way it works is you download the CU files from a KBXXXXX search"

I can't get that to work. I go to UUP Dump and I search for this: KB5014668
And I get an Error - not found page.

Image1.png

Ah ha!... I have to use this thingy...

Image1.png

I'm used to UUP Dump.... and I never saw that before.
And... it's not linkable?

So to get there, I have to click on: Home > Windows 11 21H2 (grey button), and then on:
"Cumulative Update for Windows 11 (22000.778) amd64" and then on this thing...

Image1.png

...and then search for: KB5014668

I don't think that's gonna work too well for most people.
If I go to UUP Dump and just click on: Home or Downloads, and search for the KBxxxxxxx ...I get that error above.

I'm using Firefox 102.0 (latest version) with no addons.
