And all I said was: If you use ESET as your A/V. You don't need Malwarebytes. Or any of the other bloated stuff that is available. A good A/V should not require you to get other things, like malwarebytes. Obviously, if you use only Defender, then Malwarebytes might be a good thing to have.
You are totally correct. It is up to the individual what he/she wants or needs on their computer.
In fact, most people can get by with Defender alone. And add others like Malwarebytes as they wish/or need.
Just as we may or may not have or need. C Cleaner, Defraggler, Recuva, Speccy, and so many others available. To each his own as to what he/she wants on the PC. But some of the older models can really use a clean up to remove bloat.
