Upgrading GPU - RTX 4070Ti or Radeon RX 7900XT?

I've been happily running a GeForce GTX 1660Ti for a few years now, and did not really feel I needed an upgrade, since I do not really play many games - my go to game is still the COD MW series, so I did not really need all that much GPU power.

But having recently upgraded my PC a full 5 generations from an 8700K to a 13700K, and upping my RAM to 64GB DDR5 (current build listed in System Specs), I am feeling the itch to upgrade my GPU.

So the question arises:
Which one do I get
1. GeForce RTX 4070 Ti
2. AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT

Please advise.

Personally would go 4070ti, For Dlss/Frame gen and ray tracing personally. 7900 xt is also a really good card, They trade blows with each other across games, Best to youtube benchmarks on both and then decide from there.

One review gives the 7900 XT a major edge in CoD MW II.

My interest is more in AI photo processing (Topaz, DXO Photolab, some of the newer Photoshop filters), so I' stayed with nVidia.

I used to prefer nVidia's drivers and control panel, but AMD's control software was more advanced (IMHO), last I checked.

I'm not going to give an overall recommendation, just some thoughts.

1. In overall performance in a number of games Techpowerup found there isn't a huge difference. 7900 xt is a bit quicker overall.
2. As mentioned by @bobkn Nvidia is better for content creation
3. The AMD GPU has more vram. May be important longterm. 12gb on the Nvidia card isn't a huge amount by todays standard.
4. I agree with @bobkn about the AMD control panel being better than the Nvidia one.
5. If you go with AMD consider a Sapphire Nitro+ 7900 XT. I have the 7900 XTX version and it is very good GPU. I wouldn't recommend the standard AMD model of the 7900 XT

You will probably be happy with either so pricing may be relevant. On Amazon they're very similar prices.

Happy shopping! :-)

So the question arises:
Which one do I get
1. GeForce RTX 4070 Ti
2. AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT

Please advise.
I'm getting this XFX Speedster MERC310 AMD Radeon RX 7900XT. No other reason than I've only used AMD cards since they were ATI. As a photographer I'm use to their colors. As a gamer, never an issue with them. I'm also getting that one because I love the design.

That's me. Good luck.

AMD and Nvidia based on the number of stream processors or CUDA cores, they’re of simpler and smaller designs while running at lower frequencies. Nvidia has its CUDA cores, which are larger, more complicated, and run faster.
