USB Flash Drive - Recovery possible?

Are you testing Ventoy (the software) or the SSD ( the device)???????? Be very clear..

For Ventoy a large enough flash drive to accomodate all the desirable bootable ISOs into it is enough. For it to function it may format the device as a GPT/exFAT as I presume (because I do not use Ventoy).

Why are you running TestDisk and that too the beta version which may still have bugs? ? TestDisk is a data recovery program. You do not test an SSD with TestDisk.

For testing the health of the SSD you need not install Ventoy onto the SSD. It will be enough if you check the health with Crystal Disk Info or Hard Disk Sentinel. Hard Disk Sentinel gives much more information than Crystal Disk Info. It will on the first screen itself and instantaneousy show the number of bad sectors if present. Clicking on the SMART Tab, you will get the smart info, The trial version also offers a quick test (Disk menu -> Short self test) and additional test functions are available in the registered (complete) version.

The Self-Test on my Samsung SSD:

View attachment 111388

SMART of Samsung SSD - Hard Disk Sentinal - By default RAW values are shown in Decimal

View attachment 111390

SMART of Samsung SSD - Crystal Disk Info

Please note by default Crystal Disk Info will show the RAW values in Hexadecimal. To show it in Decimal as in the above screenshot Go to Function in the Menu Bar > Advanced Feature > RAW Values and select 10[Dec]

You just sold me a license for HDS, Ask the publisher for a taste.

The flash drive that ValiDrive resurrected for me had to be removed and re-inserted a few times before the program saw it. Might be the same for you. Don't give up on it. Raising a flash drive from the dead is a near religious experience.
The problem is not the program but Windows itself since it requires the OS to recognize things before any program will work as I already fixed the problem and recovered the data as mentioned earlier as the Flash Drive is working fine now.

You guys like a challege more than me so I commend you. Back in my younger days I would spend hours or days on something just to prove to myself I could solve it. I didn't want any problem to beat me. But now that I'm old I wouldn't waste my time and effort for an old usb drive I can replace for $12. Isn't it funny how age changes how we look at things?

It depends more on the profession too I think. I am a NASA Astrophysicist Ph.D. so challenges are also learning about things too as I can't deny that curiosity kills even though I am exactly half a century and nine months old. But the problem was solved as mentioned earlier even though some other member(s) seems to think I still have the problem without reading the other responses in the thread it seems as even post #41 already indicates the drive does not have a problem.

I also have 1 Unreadable Sandisk think its 128GB as well lol, Can't read it in Windows period, file explorer didn't even show the drive letter, Diskpart did not see it,

Didn't try a Live Linux though, maybe will try that on PC 2 tomorrow to see if that machine can read it lol, i don't care what machine reads it really lol, just wanna make sure no important files on it haha

Also plugged in every other flash drive and cleaned files off a bunch of them yesterday. So i hope those are refreshed for a bit lol.

As for recovering this Sandisk it might be a lost cause, but i'm not sure yet on mine

That was eggsactly the reason I wanted to make sure I didn't lose anything important on it. Good luck in any case.
