Hi guys... I have a problem with my wired mouse and USB port its connected to. After about 5 minutes, I get an error message stating the USB isn't recognized. I then have to go to device manager and uninstall the USB under the 'Universal Serial Bus Controller'. I then have to unplug then replug my mouse into the USB port. My mouse then finally works again.

But the problem occurs all the time and its annoying having to go through this same song and dance. How do I fix this?

...

What happens with other devices in the same USB port - a wired -keyboard, USB flash drive, etc?

No computer device details ... laptop or desktop?? If a desktop, same with rear ports as with front ports?

Has the problem just started to happen? Is this a new/different mouse?

You did not fill in any of your computer specs in your profile?
so we don't know the Make, Model # of your computer or motherboard.
You can go to the manufacturers download drivers section and download the Chipset driver (USB Support) for your model and reinstall that.

As stated, have you tried other devices in this USB Port? Also, have you tried a different USB Wired mouse?

In the Start search menu type device and open device manager. Plug your mouse into a USB and check for errors by opening every occurence of USB. Are their any errors? Look for Logitech there may be something wrong with your driver. It's probably old and Microsoft thinks it's not secure....

My problem still continues. I checked on the logitech website and there are no drivers for it, the only drivers for it are supplied by microsoft. What do you suggest?.

You didn't answer a question. Do you have problems with anything else plugged into a USB port? Have you tried another mouse? If its only the mouse then maybe the mouse is faulty.

I would use the Microsoft driver for your mouse if they have one. There's a good chance that it's certified by Microsoft and will work for a few more years.

Have you considered that your issue could well not be with your computer but with your mouse?
