Dell Desktop XPS 8960

Hello folks,

In the Sleep Mode, Dell' XPS systems don't go to sleep like every other Windows desktop computer, that is, every thing is powered off, but can wake up with the keyboard or push of the mouse. In the Hibernate mode, this system turns everything "off", but wakes up with the press of the power button.

I would not mind using a utility to put my computer to Hibernate after a set time.

Here's how it all started. Dell told me the XPS is per design.

I use the sleep mode and disabled the mouse from waking up the computer. Since I'm on a UPS, (S3) sleep works well for me.

My reason for not using hibernate is it takes much longer for the machine to awaken than sleep, but accomplishes the same goal. Hibernate goes through the BIOS and basically does a full reboot and then loads the previous memory content from disk to continue where you left off. (S3) Sleep just powered down everything but the memory and goes into a low power state, I measure about 5 watts when sleeping.

If you mean after a set period of inactivity then you can use Power options.

If you need to post again, I suggest you post the response to this cmd [a screenshot of the cmd/PS window will do].
PowerCfg -a
