Installation and Upgrade UUP Dump - Download Windows Insider ISO

UUPDump.jpg

UUP Dump is the most practical and easy way to get ISO images of any Insider Windows 10 or Windows 11 version, as soon as Microsoft has released a new build. UUP Dump creates a download configuration file according to your choices, downloads necessary files directly from Microsoft servers, and finally creates an ISO image.

Please notice, that you don't have to join Windows Insider program to install and use Insider builds. You can simply download and install any Insider build from UUP Dump, and when an Insider build upgrade is released, download the upgrade build and upgrade your current Insider installation.

This tutorial will show you how to use UUP Dump to get any Windows Insider ISO.

1. In any browser, open an available link below to go to UUP Dump:

OR

OR

2. Select your Insider channel:

UUP Dump select channel.jpg

Select your preferred channel, and click the button for preferred bit architecture. Notice that Windows 11 is currently (July 2021) available in Dev Channel only, and that it is not available as x86 / 32-bit version. UUP Dump takes some time to create an ISO from downloaded UUP files; if you just want the latest public release, it's faster to get it directly from Microsoft. See tutorial on our sister site Ten Forums:

3. Select link to your chosen Insider build:

UUP Dump select build.jpg

4. Select your preferred language from drop down list (language of the ISO), and click Next:

UUP Dump select language.jpg

5. Select editions you want to download. (#1 in next screenshot). Notice that edition Windows Team is an Enterprise edition to be used in Surface Hub, and the N editions are normal Windows editions without media components like Windows Media Player. N editions need a specific N edition product key, and cannot be activated with standard Windows product keys.

Later, you can select additional editions to be added to your ISO (#2 in screenshot):

UUP Dump select editions.jpg

I recommend selecting only the HOME or PRO edition (or both), according to your needs. Click Next to proceed.

6. You will see a summary of your choices (#1 in next screenshot). The default setting is Download and convert to ISO (#2 in screenshot). An important choice is to select Integrate updates when available (#3 in screenshot). For instance, when creating build 22000 ISO today (July 2021), unselecting this will create a build 22000.1 ISO image, instead of fully updated build 22000.51 image.

In screenshot item #2, selecting Download, add additional editions and convert to ISO allows you to add additional Windows images to ISO.

UUP Dump select download options.jpg

7. In this example, I chose to add additional editions. I chose to integrate all updates (#1 in next screenshot), and add Pro for Workstations and Enterprise images (#2 in screenshot) to ISO:

8. When you have done your selections, click Create download package:

Download UUP configuration.jpg

9. A ZIP archive file will be downloaded. As always when downloading any script, archive or executable file, you need to unblock it first. Right click the downloaded ZIP archive, select Properties, select Unblock, and click OK:

UUP Dump Unblock ZIP.jpg

10. Again, right click the downloaded ZIP archive. Select Extract all, accepting all defaults in next screen titled Select a destination and extract files:

UUP Dump Extract.jpg

Extract all.jpg

11. The ZIP archive will be extracted to a new folder, which will be opened automatically. Run the uup_download_windows.cmd file:

UUP Dump Run UUP Dump.jpg

12. UUP Dump starts to download necessary UUP files:

UUP Dump downloading.jpg

12. When download has finished, UUP Dump starts to build the ISO. A tell-tale of download finishing and building ISO starting is the change of background colour from black to blue :

UUP Dump Building ISO.jpg

13. Wait patiently, the process will take some time. When ready, text Press 0 to exit will be shown, Command Prompt window will close when you press 0. Alternatively, window can be closed from right top corner:

UUP Dump Done.png

14. A new ISO file can be found in folder where you extracted the ZIP archive:

UUP Dump ISO.jpg

15. Checking the ISO, you will see that all your selected Windows editions are included:

That's it, geeks!

Hi folks
I was not trying to "diseminate" false / fake news". I was only expressing my experience - and as I know many users here use UUPDUMP. There's all sorts of reasons why web sites can go down -- but the "For Legal Reasons" is a rare one for me - particularly in a country where the Internet is still remarkably free of "ISP blocking" and Geo blocking practices.

If people thought I was trying to spread panic etc just because a well used site wasn't available for a few hours obviously didn't get the point. It was the reason -- or alleged reason why the site wasn't up that I was concerned about -- and if it was true that the site was gone for good then I was looking to the good folks here to suggest other alternatives.

Since > 2K views on this thread - it was obviously of concern to many -- I hope their fears have been eased somewhat now.

Cheers

That assumes that it was the site owner that took the site down, (or at least changed the front page), it my have been a "joke" by some 3rd party or a malicious attack at the moment we do not know what happened so it's best not to speculate
Oh, I wasn't speculating. Anyone who read this -👇

Has anyone tried using the UUP Dump API as suggested by Lemonitok?

Hi @Kari

Thanks for the tutorial, I have added it to my favorites, but now I have some questions:

1. In the following image, what is the Run component cleanup function if it is activated? and, really now I have to use Windows 10 to create any Windows 11 ISO as it now appears on the uupdump website?

gFPRaWn7ax.png

2. In the following image, after executing the file uup_download_windows.cmd, sometimes this error appears: errorCode=22 The response status is not successful. status=403 Is this a problem with uupdump, microsoft servers or is it my internet? Is it normal for this error to appear in the download process and I should let it go or is there anything I can do about it?

When updates are added some items in the component store are supersceded by new ones. After you apply a cumulative update to your PC you can clean up these redundant components.
The same applies to adding updates to an image, this option cleans them up. It should make for a slightly smaller image.

and, really now I have to use Windows 10 to create any Windows 11 ISO as it now appears on the uupdump website?
Yes, as it says in your screenshot to build an ISO for 'Windows 11, version 22H2 or later' you need to use Windows 10 version 2004 or later. The UUP dump script makes extensive use of DISM to build the ISO, and I assume that to build an image for Windows 11 22H2 and above it needs to use some of the new DISM functions that were added in Windows 10 version 2004.
Microsoft said:
With Windows 10, version 2004, we've added a new set of Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) commands....

2. In the following image, after executing the file uup_download_windows.cmd, sometimes this error appears: errorCode=22 The response status is not successful. status=403 Is this a problem with uupdump, microsoft servers or is it my internet?
Looks like it's Microsoft's servers. HTTP response 403 means 'Forbidden'.

When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.

Windows 10 or later - that part gets overlooked frequently.

IOW, Win11 is fine to use to build the Win11 22H2 .ISOs.

Thanks for the explanation. I have seen several tutorials on the internet about how to download an ISO image with uupdump but they never check the "Run component cleanup" box. It is true what you say, checking that box makes the ISO image a few GB smaller, I have already checked it. So I will check that box every time I use uupdump.

Yes, as it says in your screenshot to build an ISO for 'Windows 11, version 22H2 or later' you need to use Windows 10 version 2004 or later. I didn't know that, thanks for the info. I had to create another partition to install Windows 10, and then use the script.

Looks like it's Microsoft's servers. HTTP response 403 means 'Forbidden'.

I must also say that even when I used the script at different times of the day, I always got the same error. I guess it is something normal, but I was also thinking that maybe the aria2c file (that the script downloads) gives errors in the connection? I say this because I know that the downloaded aria2c file does not have the same hash of the latest version of aria2c, so the script could be downloading an older version of aria2c. Anyway, after running the script on Windows 10 I got the ISO file of the latest beta version of Windows 11, but I had to wait about 6 or 7 hours in the process.

Today, I have this weird issue with the Windows 11 Beta Channel 22624.1537 ISO using the instructions in post #1 in this thread. Basically, it was fine but here is a screenshot:
1680306647902.png

The Processing % bars with the ==== would pause and not increase until I hit either the space bar or the right arrow key and then it will stop again and basically I have to hit the space bar or the right arrow key again which seems to only happen with Windows11.0-KB5022910-x64.msu as after that one finished at 100%, the others all were working normally. Has anyone else seen this before?

You have accidentally clicked on the window and have placed an edit marker in the window.....

....until you clear it (hitting the space bar would do that) the running process is paused. This is normal behaviour in a Command Prompt or Powershell window if Quick-Edit Mode is enabled.

Thanks, how does one actually unpause it or clear it for future reference?

Hitting the Esc key will remove the edit marker and un-pause the window. You can turn off Quick-Edit Mode by right-clicking on the Window's title bar and selecting Properties.

Yesterday, as Windows 11 Insider Beta 22624.1537 was released, I decided to build a ISO from UUP Dump using the instructions from
UUP Dump - Download Windows Insider ISO Tutorial

For Step 2, I chose Latest Beta Channel build x64
For Step 3, I chose Windows 11 Insider Preview 10.0.22624.1537 (ni_release)
Build number: 22624.1537
For Step 4, I chose English (United States)
For Step 5, under #1, I chose Windows Home and Windows Pro, I did not do #2
This was the screen before clicking Create download package

1680332490891.png

then I clicked on Create download package that created the the file 22624.1537_amd64_en-us_multi_444b4e5f_convert.zip
which I had unzipped into a folder called 22624.1537_amd64_en-us_multi_444b4e5f_convert and ran the uup_download_windows.cmd file
which generated the 22621.1.220506-1250.NI_RELEASE_CLIENTMULTI_X64FRE_EN-US.ISO

I did a repair install using the setup.exe after mounting the ISO with Windows Explorer
After the installation was complete, Windows was actually at 22621.1413.

1680332542139.png

I had to Windows Update to get it to 22621.1537 and then had to install KB5023595 Enablement Package for Windows 11 22H2 Beta build 22624.xxx to get it to 22624.1537.
