Solved Very, Very, old ms account (live.com). OEM custom system. Want start over with new (outlook.com) acct.

Good question antspants. You got to the heart of what I'm trying to do:

I guess what I really prefer is keeping my live.com as is and adding a second isp.com ms account user with their own 365 Personal plan. But that would be two ms accounts/plans on one device which seems to be where I'm stuck. So I guess my second choice is new msaccount e-mail to current device then changing 365 plan.

I found this on Microsoft website: changes to 365 email

It appears buying the plan from Apple dumps managing (support?) to Apple who I'm sure will not. Just like microsoft blames oem who blames Microsoft ending in zero support.

Well I'm glad I'm finding some of this out here in eleven that I cannot find answers elsewhere. So Please keep questions and answers coming before I finalize trying something

Thanks much for the link! I might already be a member.

However, in the meantime I did an experiment on a laptop. In a different browser I url'ed https://account.microsoft.com

After creating a new microsoft account with my isp.com email I ended up at:

https://account.microsoft.com/?refd...atus=cancelled&res=acw_landing_page_cancelled

In between the url flashed login.live.com. Notice how the ending url has cancelled in it. Those two things made me question without answer whats going on with ms accounts I have or create? I guess that's really a Win 11, ms account question, that I can still ask here.

I still visit the ten forums.

After creating a new microsoft account with my isp.com email
Just my opinion, but a Microsoft account should be made with a Microsoft Outlook (outlook.com) email address. Then add your ISP email as an alias, if you really need to. It can act as an emergency contact if you tell Microsoft it’s a backup address (I forget how, maybe it is by default).

It’s safe to change your email in your current (live) account. If you want two Microsoft Windows accounts, create a second Outlook email. You’ll need to have a separate computer (your laptop?) I am not saying you couldn’t use two Microsoft accounts on the same PC, I am sure someone has done it, but what a PITA.

If you’re wanting to use the second Microsoft Windows account independently for your laptop, you need to unlink your laptop from the previous account. Also, I am not 100% certain, but I believe a new Windows 11 key might be needed for the new account on a different PC/Laptop.

I think you’re possibly making things a little hard for yourself. I will admit, I am a little lost. I don’t think I am qualified to advise you furthur.

Edited.

Those are both very good questions Gary. The shrink wrapped box is an official Microsoft 365 Personal, 1-person, 12-month subscription plan. I bought it at the Apple.com Store for $69.99, but could have bought it at many other authorized resellers like BestBuy.com. Search there and you'll see exactly what it looks like.

Inside was a a 25 character Product Key with instructions to go to microsoft365.com/setup to start.
Here I would login to current or create new microsoft account, enter Product Key and follow instructions.

I just looked at Accounts in Settings on my pc. I could upgrade my plan from Basic to Personal, but think it would not take my paid key and just add $70 to my sub. In the same place I could hit Manage taking me to ms account where I could redeem a code. Not sure, but more likely what I need. Same Page I could choose a different plan.

What I'd really like is TWO separate ms account each with own365 Plan on my same computer> Not sure how that would work, Idea??
Yes, I understand now. There is the same offer on microsoft.com. A few years ago there was an included one year Microsoft 365 on a new MS PC I purchased. When I put in the key, it added an extra year to my existing Microsoft 365 subscription.

I can't understand why you would want TWO separate Microsoft accounts, each with their own Microsoft 365 plan. I suppose it could be done, but why on earth would you want to pay for Microsoft 365 twice in order to have it on two separate accounts? That makes no sense to me.

If I were you, I would just follow the instructions and add the 365 subscription that you've already purchased to your existing Microsoft Account and be done with it.

@antspants, an Outlook email address is not necessary when creating or using a Microsoft account. You can use any valid email address you want.

Your Microsoft Account can be used concurrently on up to 8 devices. I use it on 5 different devices. I get the same Office 365 and the same 1 terabyte of OneDrive on all 5 of my devices. I love it.

Thank you all for increasing my knowledge of accounts and how this 365 plan might work with them
