Accounts View All Devices Linked to your Microsoft Account

Windows_device_banner.png

This tutorial will show you how to see a list of all devices (PCs and Xbox consoles) linked to your Microsoft account.

When you sign in to a device with your Microsoft account, that device will get added and linked to your Microsoft account.

When you add a device to your Microsoft account, you can access online features for your device from your Microsoft account devices page at Microsoft.

Starting with Windows 11 build 22631.3672, build 26227.5000 (Canary), and build 26120.751 (Dev) Microsoft is introducing a new Linked devices page under Settings > Accounts that allows you to manage PCs and Xbox consoles that you are signed in to with your Microsoft account. This settings page will only show on the Home and Pro editions of Windows 11 and if you’re signed into Windows with your Microsoft account.

Shawn,
When I do this using your Option 1, I see the correct number of linked devices in both the account and the Windows Store account lists.

But when I do it from the Settings app on my Windows 11 machine (specs below) I see two extra machines listed. These are both computer names for machines I discarded six or seven YEARS ago! I can't figure out how to remove these old machines from the Settings app. My guess is I removed them from the MS account online a long time ago, but the Settings app is still showing them. Clicking the link next to each old machine to "Remove this device" simply points the browser to the account page, where they don't show up.

I tried the MS support chat, and they couldn't figure it out, either. Any ideas? Is this just a bug in a new feature?

Hello, and welcome. :alien:

It sounds like a bug where changes haven't fully synced in Settings yet. You might report this issue to Microsoft via the Feedback Hub app to help make them aware, and hopefully get a fix for this soon.

Yeah, I did that a while ago. I know that the Settings app is at least partially updating because my main machine was listed twice and I deleted the second copy on the website, then it was removed from the Settings app. In the case of these two stray machines I likely never positively removed the MS account from either one, but one went in the trash (after destroying the hard drive) and the other was given to someone who uses it with their own account.

Technically, a removed device would only get added back if you signed into the device again with your Microsoft account. Removing the Microsoft account from the device before removing it just makes sure it's not signed in with it again.

Your method also prevents it from being signed in with the Microsoft account though.

I can't swear to when I last saw either of those two machines in my MS account, but I've been removing machines a lot after selling a bunch of laptops that a business recycled. But none of those were the old machines I mentioned.
