I have the Retail version of Office 2021 and I read that it should have the new Visual Refresh look. However, it is not there. I have version 2203 (build 15028.20204)

Hasn't this feature been officially released yet to the public?

Thanks, but I thought it's released to the public by now. Is there any source that claims the opposite?

Ah, so it's still an upcoming feature and not implemented by default for the public yet? I'm surprised since it's been more than 8 months now since its release.

It is available on Office 265 release version.

TIP: do not enable it as it is utter garbage LOL.

Of course, try it but it totally screws up how many styles you can see on ribbon, particularly on a laptop - on mine I can only see 3 now rather than 5 or 6 as it makes then so big in ribbon.

Whatever prat authorised this change must be visually challenged!

A lot hard to see it when you don't have the different versions installed and can compare SxS. Thanks, Edwin.

MS keeps messing with the visual updates for both Microsoft 365 and Office 2021. On my two machines that have Office 2021 I liked the original "system theme" which was a light gray with "colored" icons. Both received automatic updates yesterday and now "system theme" is the same as "color theme." The closest to the previous system theme is "light" but that is white and not the previous light gray. Oh well.

I have Windows dark mode with light app mode. Before the Office update, it "defaulted" to a light theme. Now it defaults to "Coloful."

Is it then correct that the public retail version of Office doesn't have the visual refresh by default enabled yet? Only for the insiders?

Hi there
I don't think it's avilable on Office 2021 Pro LTSC version :

Mind you this edition isn't available at retail -- seems to be only available for business / enterprise / corporatae clients who can instal locally on authorized PC's. These though were included with my 2021 LTSC Office Pro feature but seemed to be installed as a "separate package".

Office pro 2021 LTSC :

office2021.png

Project pro 2021 and Visio which are available via normal "Retal" don't have the feature either:

E.g Project 2021

proj.png

Version is 2108 which I think is a bit behind current versions.

Cheers

Oh I specifically asked about the Retail version of Office 2021. I am indeed aware the LTSC version does not have the Visual Refresh.

Hi there
there's so many "editions" of these things as well as W11 beta /dev etc etc - some of use can get confused. (Includig me).

The only gripe I have with this stuff is in Dark Mode I can't get EXCEL to have black cells with while lettering. Word, Outlook etc works perfectly - but EXCEL even if the Office option is set to "black" it doesn't work for the cells,

Cheers
