The Windows 11 upgrade rollout plan is still being finalized but is scheduled to begin late in 2021 and continue into 2022. Specific timing will vary by device.

If you’d like to see if your current PC meets the minimum requirements, download and run the PC Health Check app.

It’s free to upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11. But only Windows 10 PCs that are running the most current version of Windows 10 and meet the minimum hardware specifications will be able to upgrade. You can check to see if you have the latest updates for Windows 10 in Settings/Windows Update. The free upgrade offer does not have a specific end date for eligible systems. However, Microsoft reserves the right to eventually end support for the free offer. This end date will be no sooner than one year from general availability.

Look in the BIOS and enable Advanced > fTPM = Firmware and Security Device = Enabled.

OK, that was easy. The fTPM threw me off. I enabled it and I reran the check and I'm all good. Wonder how many poor users who have no clue about that will get stumped lol

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.

    My SYSTEM FIVE is a Dell Latitude 3190 2-in-1, Pentium Silver N5030, 8GB RAM, 1TB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro, plus Insider Beta, Dev, and Canary builds (and a few others) as a native boot .vhdx.

    My SYSTEM SIX is a Dell Latitude 5550, Core Ultra 7 165H, 64GB RAM, 1TB NVMe SSD, supported device, Windows 11 Pro 24H2, Hyper-V host machine. Updated to 25H2 on 30th September 2025.

    My SYSTEM SEVEN is a Lenovo Thinkpad T580, Intel Core i7-8650U, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD + 2nd 512GB NVMe SSD, a supported device for Windows 11. This is my current general purpose 'main machine'. The installed Windows 11 Home from my System One has been migrated to this machine.

BIOS should have it enabled by default, no reason not to be enabled. Bitlocker fo instance doesn't work without it, other security SW.

I failed the test. Even though I logged in with an MS account, turned on the AMD CPU fTPM, and chose UEFI Windows under Secure Boot.
I can only assume it's because my Win 10 is installed on an MBR partition.

I pass all the other requirements as outlined by MS. LOL

There is no bios manual that I can see, but I have an older Strix board and the TPM is under PTT in the advanced section of the bios - try looking there.

Nope.. this is an opportunity to get TPM emulator software developed - there are many that will not get TPM just to run an OS when they don't even need it. - it's a low cost upgrade but the principle of it does not play well with me.

ROFL. I got lucky. Just built a new PC about a month or two ago and I have a TPM 2.0 in it, but I had ordered a TPM before settling on my final MB and ended up ordering one that wouldn't work with the new MB. Turns out that it will work with my old 4th gen i7 based PC so I should be good on that system as well. Just decrypted my drives and will replace the TPM 1.2 with my 2.0 module :-)

In the end of the day I have Win 11 running even if I failed the test. Don't understand why I failed.. but it works.
