I am facing an issue with one of the WD external hard drive.
Out of the sudden the drive is not showing on the file explorer. I tested it on another computer and it is still the same.
I noticed the drive is detected by the computer under disk management but it is asking to initialize it. I have important backup information and I can not take a risk to format it then use any of those recovery software. I have tested some of these recovery software and they did not restore enough data from a USB stick.

Use CrystalDiskInfo to view health report of the drive.

In this guide, i will explain how to use Windows File Recovery software to recover deleted files on your Windows 10 or Windows 11.

It looks then as if the disk is defective or driver not working -- probably disk is defective as usually an HDD etc will always show up in Disk part even if only as "RAW".

If you have any live linux distro try booting that up and type lsblk from the terminal (console) -- if it doesn't show up on that then it looks you really have a serious hardware problem with that disk.

Perhaps you should RMA it and get a replacement. But check of course that the hardware has been installed correctly.

Cheers
jimbo
