The PWM fans that come included with the CPU cooler that I linked in my previous post seem to be fairly decent. Amazon.com
Having a CPU cooler with 2 fans helps to lower fan noise further due to being able to further reduce fan speed. The slower speed also helps to improve the life expectancy of the fans, and, at this price point I don't think that the endurance of the fans should be a reason for concern. Similar to the Peerless Assassin (which is incompatible with AM3+ unfortunately) essentially you're getting the fans almost for free, anyway in the first place so... lol

Good God, this is not how I would heatsink ANY AMD chip. Or Intel for that matter.

Buy yourself a real cooler before something happens and you burn up that CPU.

I applaud your ingenuity, but you are asking for trouble. That hot glue will degrade with heat. You can buy a decent cooler for that CPU for about $60. Two things you never cheap out on your computer: The power supply, and the cooling.

There. Just my $0.02.

BTW, I learned the hard way when I burned up my AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE CPU that I bought for $200 US.

$60 is serious overkill on such an old CPU. The CM Hyper 212 EVO currently sells for even more so it is legal theft... it used to be a good choice back at the time when it was still $20 - $25, but that was then and this is now. If you mean what I get. lol :p

Although I would avoid it because a single 92mm fan running at somewhere close to 2,000rpm is going to attract more dust (and will probably wear out faster) than dual 120mm fans running at or below 1,150rpm which will also make it whisper-quiet, the Pure Rock Slim 2 does come with the AM3+ bracket already included in the package AFAIK:

Go with the upHere D6SEK (at $27.99 after applying the $5 coupon) like I earlier said (see my post #19). It has a dual tower design with dual 120mm fans. Any CPU aircooler that uses only a single 92mm fan is going to have to be made from unobtanium if you don't want it to behave like a vacuum cleaner attached to your CPU sucking up heaps of dust, no matter the fact that it will do it very quietly (but certainly not inaudibly).

I ended up getting this amd silent cooler instead, which was definitely bigger than the one I had

that one made my previous cpu air cooler look puny & pint-sized
current temps are consistently below 40C for the FX6300 cpu with the larger size amd heatsink fan / cooler

I didn't need to get the D6SEK though,
but I may buy the D6SEK later on in the year for a friend's custom built PC that has an Asus brand AM3+ board
when I do put in an AMD FX cpu on there {link to amazon video on how to install the D6SEK cooler along with
installing the mounting brackets for that cooler}

The description of this cooler says "About this item: AMD ORIGINAL WRAITH COOLER". I see that the original boxed FX-6300 CPU came with this same cooler.

I have an FX-8350 CPU that I think came with the original Wraith Cooler. Instead of this I used a Corsair H60 AIO water cooler. The Wraith Cooler didn't go to waste. I used it with an AMD Phenom II 960T CPU. It looked better than the cooler that came with it.
