Weird Audio Endpoint Enum Isuue

On Win11 21H2 on a very legacy system but it works very well for its age. SoundBlaster XIFI card. At some point, I made some DISM change that caused this but I have no idea exactly what or when. On login, system reports no audio devices found. Device manager is fine, shows both the card and the endpoints as normal. Audio Services are fine. Just no actual endpoints are presented to the system (mmsys.cpl is empty). I go to Settings, Audio Devices, and it initially also shows nothing, but then, as I just keep browsing, it runs and activates “something” and then discovers all my endpoints (audiodg.exe starts at this point) and all is good. But this isn’t persistent across reboots, not even across logouts. Some “final” enumeration API is no longer happening automatically and I’d love to know if there is a rundll for it (to script it) or if anyone has ever heard of this before. Already tried driver reinstall with no effect. Of course I can do the manual workaround but it’s ugly & it doesn’t update the Explorer tray status properly.

Have you tried putting a dummy drive in the system on a fresh install to make sure your card is still good?

Admitting to changing an obscure DISM related command you can't remember is going to make it difficult to get a drive-by answer from an expert. I'm sure people want to help.

Have you tried running the Windows Audio Troubleshooter when you encounter the issue?
