Windows 11
Sometimes, after clicking a taskbar icon, it opens the icon next to it. I have to restart explorer.exe to stop this behavior.

Also, when opening a window, it constantly and randomly returns to a previous one.

I have these issues for months (at least) even after making several Windows 11 clean installs.

Are you using any third party apps to change Windows' GUI?

Along with trying another mouse I would disable widgets to see if it makes a difference. Widgets have caused a lot of strange GUI problems so it may be the cause of yours.

Already did.

I don't know. I've had these issues before installing apps. Maybe it's caused by a custom image created by NTLite.

Along with trying another mouse I would disable widgets to see if it makes a difference. Widgets have caused a lot of strange GUI problems so it may be the cause of yours.

I don't have any widgets.

I've no experience of NTLite. Could be the issue. I would ask on their forums to see if there have been similar issues.

I was gifted an HP Laptop that developed some similar tendencies. I'd click on a desktop icon and the one next to it would run.
There were other and similar 'Bugs'. Minus a few parts, that laptop is now in the county land fill. Problem solved!

Cheers Mates!

So, do you think these problems are hardware-related?

You might as well do another clean install and this time don't use the NLite frigged .iso to see if the same problem occurs.

Unfortunately, these problems are somewhat random and I don't want to have all the frigged apps and components back.

You could also try this during install,

I doubt that would remove as many apps as NTLite since the latter also removes system ones, not to mention it also enables and disables settings.

Instead of restarting Explorer have you tried pressing F5 to refresh the screen? I sometimes find that clicking on desktop icons does not activate them and pressing F5 fixes the issue (until another random occasion).

OS is Win 11 Pro 22H2 Build 22621.2428.
Also StartAllBack v3.6.15 is installed.

In the case of my errant HP Laptop; I proved it was not a glitch in the OS, by swapping the HD with two other HD's containing different OS's. Regardless of what OS was running, the problem with the cursor persisted.
I don't give up on a PC easily! I spent several hours of troubleshooting before scrapping out the Laptop and putting the dead carcass in the trash.

you might as well do another clean install and this time don't use the NLite frigged .iso to see if the same problem occurs.
To the OP, Fabler2's suggestion is a solid piece of advice if I've ever heard one. Start at the beginning and start with a Windows install as it's meant to be installed. Folks need to realize we're not in Win7Land anymore. We all tweak here and there, but tweaking 11 to death is only asking for problems. Ask, and you shall receive.., and from reading your other posts, you did.

Actually, no, since I didn't recall. I'll do it next time.

I doubt its a hardware problem. I think its either a bug that will be fixed by an update or a bug that was caused by removing components with NTLite.

To be fair, I've had strange isses even with untouched images or with minimum custom ones.

I'd be interested to know if it worked so feedback appreciated. :-)

Currently, I'm not having the issue. If I have it, I'll let you know.
