Welcome to New Microsoft Outlook

Microsoft is apparently trying to force me to use Microsoft 365 on my brand new PC. When I try to share an article from the New York Times it opens a pop up which says Welcome to the New Outlook which apparently encompasses Outlook, Gmail, Yahoo Mail and several other mail clients.

If I delete the Outlook (New) app from my PC then try to share it opens a different popup which says Mail and Calendar are no longer available. I don’t want to use Microsoft Mail, Outlook, Calendar, Powerpoint or any other Microsoft applications they provide. I simply want to be able to share articles through my Gmail app.

I've managed to dodge much of this with FireFox but yeah, it's being thrust on me also. I eliminated Calendar and no longer use Powerpoint but I still use Microsoft Mail and MS Word. I had to go to the MS store and manually ensure that I got the Family Legacy Word subscription on renewal (the one without Co-Pilot) and that seemed to help a little but they're still trying to actively thrust Co-Pilot on me. I already uninstalled Co-Pilot but it would seem that this cannot be completely removed from Outlook. How annoying! Linux has never looked better.

I I completely uninstall Copilot will that allow me to share articles with Gmail and Yahoo

I can't guarantee that it will but at least after following Brink's directions on how to uninstall Co-Pilot I've managed to tame it somewhat.

I have a Microsoft 365 Family account which includes Outlook.
I haven't yet been forced to use Outlook (New) yet.

Not exactly, you can however add those email accounts to Outlook. But that’s basically always been possible.
A “Client” is an interface (APP) Which is different to email domain (like gmail.com, outlook.com or yahoo.com)

As far as I know, Gmail doesn’t have an app for Windows. You can however create a bookmark in your browser for gmail.com and just use the Gmail web interface via your browser.

IF you still need to, download Revo, Free and remove anything related to Outlook mail if you haven’t already. Any suggestions that you should download and use Outlook or Microsoft 365, are most likely ads. Like when you open Settings. It’s generally on the front page of the Settings interface.

Any mention of Microsoft 365/Office apps in the Start Menu, you should be able to right click on and choose Uninstall.

Using Edge and the new Outlook as default this is what I get sharing the link on Gmail.





I get this popup that shows the choice only partially so click on "windows share options" (You can just see Gmail there and that works).

The next popup shows all the selections for sharing the link.
