Hello,

- VGA VGA Driver AMD 2023/11/06 1.2.0.121 60.45 MB

- VGA Utility VGA Utility AMD 2023/08/01 10.22.20034.0 238.15 MB

- DRTM Dynamic Root of Trust for Measurement AMD 2023/01/04 1.0.16.2 49.14 KB

- VGA VGA Driver AMD 2023/01/04 31.0.12032.4 705.28 MB

From the above I see 2 of the same VGA Drivers however there's a huge difference between their file sizes that is 60.45 MB & 705.28 MB however their version numbers is just confusing me :confused:

The 4th the largest would be the AMD CPU integrated video driver, the 1st and 2nd could be the graphics control panel or maybe security update related to that hence different version numbering, something like that.

3rd is a security update.

Just install them, they are the usual sort of updates. If you want forensic details then google around.

So, first one is a chipset driver improperly named as VGA driver by Acer;
second one is the universal platform app of AMD control panel;
third one is already answered;
and the fourth one shall be the whole package of video driver - application and driver.

I would advise you to install the latest chipset and graphics drivers from AMD site and if you face any issues with them to install the ones provided by Acer.

I was advised in the past by members on this site not to download the latest from AMD site & instead download proprietary drivers from the Manufacturer Acer site because I have a laptop. Is this true for both chipset & graphics drivers or you disagree & it is stable to download the latest from AMD site?

I see I already have AMD Software Adrenaline Edition on my laptop, do you mean this is the AMD control panel?

Regarding the 3rd one DRTM, how do I check what version I am currently running now?

So the 4th one is all 4 I listed in 1?

Which 1 is just the graphics drivers or am I required to install AMD Software Adrenaline Edition?

Finally how do I increase the VRAM from 512MB?

In general for compatibility is better to use the drivers provided by your OEM. On the other hand, they are often outdated and miss features/bugfixes. You can give a shot to the drivers provided by AMD and if they are not working as expected you can install the ones from Acer.

You can check in device manager if you have a DRTM device and see its current version - please note that it is not related to graphics driver.

As for the VRAM increase you can check this method GitHub - DavidS95/Smokeless_UMAF. Please note that this might be risky and render your PC unusable. Use it as a last resort.

@very_452001 EDIT: for the VRAM increase there is more convenient and safer way. Open Adrenaline settings/Performance tab/Tuning and set the Memory Optimizer to Gaming. Restart PC.

Hi yes can you show me where about in Device Manager I can find DRTM as I cannot find it or please advise on how to search for it?

So out of the 4 Drivers I listed, which one is the main one for the graphics please?

AMD control panel same as AMD Software Adrenaline Edition?

Since I don't have DRTM in my system I cannot show you where it is exactly. You can try to install the latest from Acer, if it is already installed it will just reinstall itself.

If you decided to use the drivers from Acer and not from AMD directly you will need the chipset driver v1.2.0.121 labeled as VGA Driver and the whole package of graphics drivers - v31.0.12032.4.

Good luck,
werty

That is the advise by most people here, me included. I never allow Windows update to update my drivers as I prefer to manage them myself. I have a Dell and use the Dell app to keep my drivers updated. I'll bet Acer has a similar app to manage their drivers.
Option 2 works for both Home and Pro.

This is true but only if the OEMs provided updates in timely manner. They usually provide two-three updates and stop supporting the product while you use it for several years.

I also disable drivers from Windows as they mess up the whole system. I totally agree with you on this point.

I tried installing the latest graphics driver from AMD website however I get this error message as shown in the following link:

The latest chipset drivers from AMD site I can install but not graphics drivers.

Just to clarify v31.0.12032.4 drivers contains both the graphics driver & utility driver?

So generally speaking laptop drivers are Proprietary & specific for that laptop because laptops have batteries & different energy needs compared to a PC as well using smaller hardware chips unlike PC desktop drivers that are Universal generic especially if you built the PC yourself?

Yes, v31.0.12032.4 shall contain both the driver and the adrenaline application.

I see that you got an error message when trying to install the drivers directly from AMD. Did you try to first install the driver through device manager and then only the adrenaline application from the setup from AMD.

Your laptop has a CPU with integrated graphics, I can't see what's so customised from Acer so you aren't able to use the drivers from AMD.

Apart from the link to the drivers from Acer you can use the serial number of your laptop to search for drivers and display the drivers only applicable to your hardware.
