What Games Are You Playing?

Whoa... wait a minute.... they want $70 bucks for the standard edition, and 100 bucks for the premium game??? :eek1:

View attachment 68153

I'm going to have to wait and see how the game plays before plunking that type of cash down; especially "if" I consider the premium edition. We all know initial release games are buggy.... cough cough Cyberpunk 2077, which I was there. For the type of asking price here, I'm going to have to see how it plays upon initial release before buying.

That said, I'm still going to get it, but I'm going to wait first.

You get the regular install with XBox Game Pass, sorry, I should have mentioned that.

I'll play it first, but I will probably shell out the money for it if it is good enough. I pre-ordered Diablo IV back in Jan, I think, and haven't bought a game since, so I'm OK with an early Christmas present lol.

And it's not like I've not paid big for special editions. I paid 90 ($89.99) for Bioshock 2 Special Edition as posted in the Windows 7. But you got a lot with that game as shown in this YouTube video (can only be viewed from YouTube ). I still have it in it's original packaging. Keeping that :-)

Also bought the Collector's Edition of Fallout Vegas for $79 bucks. You can see the contents of the boxset in this video. Still have this as well.

Point? For $100 bucks it better be worth it. For $70 it better not have major issues.

    This is my backup system.
I used to run game servers from Australia in the USA “Necrokillia” as Gamer “Sinblast3r or sinblaster” Counterstrike Source. Loved the game but I grew tired of it after many years, having to ban kids with scripts.

I’ve been really frustrated lately and am ashamed to say that to release the frustration I play GTA 5 for a couple of hours each night, offline.

bethesda used to be on of my favourite devs! Then they shat the bed and it all went to pot! Nothing they release grabs me anymore, generally look 5 years older than any current game and usually plagued by bugs(More so recently). Shame as they were genuinely arguably my #1 dev.

I would too, but while I'm hyped for this game, it's been delayed several times already, and while it is coming out soon, I'm a bit more skeptical - I don't think it will be quite as bad as the Cyberpunk 2077 launch (which was a pre-order for me as well), but I'm hedging my bets.

I may change my mind in the next week or so, and if I do, I'll probably get it on Steam instead of XBox PC, but we'll see.

and am ashamed to say that to release the frustration I play GTA 5 for a couple of hours each night, offline.

Ain't no shame. I used the (entirely too short) NFS Unbound (and NFS Payback before that) to blow off steam lol. Diablo keeps me busy these days.

bethesda used to be on of my favourite devs! Then they shat the bed and it all went to pot! Nothing they release grabs me anymore, generally look 5 years older than any current game and usually plagued by bugs(More so recently). Shame as they were genuinely arguably my #1 dev.
Sad how times change,

This is the other reason I'm hesitant to dump the money into Starfield. They really were the best back in the day.

After Quake 1 remastered now Quake 2 remastered!
I never played Quake. But it does remind me of Unreal. To this day, I still consider it the best game I ever played. The graphics was ahead of its time with Glide and 3dfx video card.

BTW, I posted this over at seven forums back in December of 2014, and it still holds true today.... :-)

When I first started PC gaming I started in First Person Shooters (FPS). From that respect (and this is outside of your last five years criteria) for me, my all-time favorites are:
  • Unreal – The graphics in this game were ahead of their time. The first time I saw moving sky in a game was here. To this day I always check out the sky in a game as it shows a level of attention to detail. Also loved the story of the lone survivor of a downed ship on another planet. This game made you think as it was well balanced with puzzle based as well as action packed missions or tasks. This game looked beautiful with 3Dfx and Glide. It had a killer soundtrack which is still sort after today. NO... I ain't selling mine.
  • Bioshock (first one) – I love the story line here. This game is more about a story than an action packed game and it works very well here. I absolutely love the way atmosphere, environment, graphics, and music come together to tell its story. This is one of the best I’ve seen to date.
  • Far Cry (first one) – Action, jungle science, great story, graphics, weapon's sound, environment. This and Half-Life 2 has some of the best weapon’s sounds in a game.
  • F.E.A.R. (the first one) – This game definitely game me the jumps and kept my attention. I don’t know how many times Alma made me jump when least expected. You actually felt like you were there, fear and all. Great game.
  • Dead Space (first one) – Like Fear, kept my attention and gave me the jumps as well. Additionally the atmospheric and environmental sounds of this game was one of the best in sound effects. Everywhere you went you had stuff falling or moving and never knew when something was about to happen. The fear factor was very well done in this game.

Are you still planning on getting Starfield. I'm starting to get an itch for it now and may end up getting it upon release.

The hundred-dollar (99.99) option looks like it includes a future DLC release. If so, I'll just stick to the $70 dollar option and wait get the DLC when it releases. Here's the premium edition inclusions...
  • Shattered Space Story Expansion
  • 5 days early access
  • Constellation Skin Pack: Equinox Laser Rifle, Spacesuit, Helmet and Boost Pack
  • Access to Starfield Digital Artbook & Original Soundtrack
Don't care about extra skin packs. Don't need early access. Soundtrack sounds alluring, though everyone I've gotten with other games, I've not played. Meh on the artbook - just like the soundtracks, I never use. Expansion story sounds nice, and I'll get it if I like the game, but I'll wait until it's actually released.

So that's my justification for not buying into the premium release. The main reason though... I can't afford a hundred-dollar game. Can barely afford $70 o_O

you could get the game on game pass for like 8 and buy the premium upgrade for 32. This in pounds but im sure the usa version will be similar anyway

Now to wait for Baldur's Gate 3 to go on sale.
