what is the exact ideal height of the computer desk one should have

This query is answered in general in many forums. But let me have the exact answers from you.
There are some desktop computers and computer desk . If suppose, if you assume that I am 5 feet 8 inches, if i sit at one computer desk for a few minutes, i get neck pain and I had to move from it and then sit again after giving some neck massages. If i sit on the other desk, i do not get pain even after sitting for and doing work. So, I thought of examining the reasons. One think I note is , the other computer, which gives me neck pain is lower in height of about a one quire note height.
My query , is there a fixed height computer desk that suits all that does not give neck pain and if , please say the exact height of computer desk one must have, so that all, irrespective of his height can sit and work for long . I went to some sites, which recommended some height, but those are not convincing as you would not be buying desk after desk for your computers, assuming the floor is of even level.
Also please tell which type of such height chairs specialty design for giving neck support

Most come with the desktop at about 28". I have put my 24" monitor on a 3" block but it could go up another 0.5". My keyboard tray is at about 25" from the floor.

Finding a proper chair generally requires visiting an office products store to see what fits the best.

Most standard desk tops are 29½" off the floor.
Mine is also. My chair armrests match that, so my elbows rest there, with my arms remaining perfectly horizontal reaching to the keyboard, my back is straight, head and neck pointing straight, forward and side to side a bit, the eyes do the rest.
I try to maintain this posture while working.

Lounging watching a movie or so, is a bit different.

Your neck comfort will be more directly related to your monitor height than the height of the desk it sits on. If you get a desk that’s the standard 31” high, you can adjust the height of your monitor(s) with an adjustable riser, and find the exact height your neck is comfortable with. I use risers that are adjustable from 4” to 6.5” above my desk, and that works well for me.
And @Berton is right about the chair: choose one from a store, not from website. You need to try it out in the store. You can still buy it online, if you have the brand and model number from the store.

Here's another thing...
I don't know if anybody else adheres to this, but, I like to mix it up..., get up and make yourself a cup of tea, go fetch the mail, go for a small walk.
In the past, I was often determined to tackle an entire project in one sitting..., not good, especially if you're tight for time, makes things even more tense!

Desktop risers are also a good alternative, stand up and switch up your entire posture.

As for the desk well, an adjustable height desk could prove very useful as you could
adjust it to your desired height by experimenting with it. Also, Monitor Arms which
would be adjustable to your liking. There's a bevy of them on the market. Just make
sure it is of solid construction and from a reputable seller.


Monitor Arms are another way to ease the neck pain you are experiencing.

And, as @Edwin has rightfully suggested, a walk to stretch your body after 40 or so minutes would
be very beneficial to your health.

It is all relevant to the height of the chair and monitor stands.
Buy a good chair with a gas lift.
If the store sells chairs that are constructed for testing then they probably sell desks that are constructed for testing. Wheel the chair to the desk. If a store clerk harasses you, challenge them to a Dance-Off

I have as well, my second pair.
I would suggest you have the sub on a piece of solid wood
as opposed to sitting on the carpeted floor , makes for better
distribution of bass sound. Just a thought.

Ideal desk height is very difficult to achieve without having a height adjustable table top.

Step one: Start with the chair, it must be comfortable and so that you can rest your legs in a natural position and so that you sit straight.
Step two: Adjust the height of the table top so that while sitting straight you can rest your arms on it comfortably in 90 degree angle without having to raise your shoulders nor leaning forward or sit with a crooked back.

If you buy a standard height desk, it will most likely NOT be ergonomical for you.

It all comes down to your body measurements.

The ideal height of your desk is where YOUR eyes can look at the centre of your screen with YOUR head in a comfortable position. There's no measurement for that, it's a personal thing. You can buy monitor stands with rise and fall adjustment.

This doesn't really have anything to do with desk height. That is about screen positioning and height adjustment of that screen and it vary a lot from screen size/ viewing distance, and has to be adjusted accordingly AFTER you have your desk at optimal height for YOU.

If your desk is adjusted all over the place when it comes to height, then the screen positioning won't matter.
