    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven below to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro.

    My SYSTEM FOUR is a 2-in-1 convertible Lenovo Yoga 11e 20DA, Celeron N2930, 8GB RAM, 256GB ssd. Unsupported device: currently running Win10 Pro, plus Win11 Pro RTM and Insider Dev, Beta, and RP 24H2 as native boot vhdx.

    My SYSTEM FIVE is a Dell Latitude 3190 2-in-1, Pentium Silver N5030, 8GB RAM, 1TB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro, plus Insider Beta, Dev, and Canary builds (and a few others) as a native boot .vhdx.

3) Lenovo Thinkpad T480 vacations.

Perpetual License for 3 would be my consideration in the future

Addendum Tried it. Very clear interface. Quick imaging. The size of the image is 52 GB. With Macrium about 26 GB

I decided to dig a little deeper into Haeslo.

The learning curve is bigger that Macrium.

I have 2 installations of windows 11 on separate SSDS. I label the second one as Practice.

I installed Haesslo on the Practice window. Created a bootable Emergency disk and Created and image
Booted into the Main windows and deleted the Practice window

. With the emergency usb drive restored the practice windows. Haeslo is quicker than Macrium

This is it.

If Free Macrium becomes nonfunctional, I will go to Haeslo

I will copy important data on an external SSD. I tested it today and it worked fine.

At that stage I will decide on what to do next. I do not want to pay monthly subscription.
I may choose AOMEI backupper and make a one time purchase.

I use AOMEI backupper for backing up select folders because it's the best I have found for THAT job but I use Macrium 8 and Acronis for disk imaging. I like how Acronis and Macrium have mountable images for file browsing. It will probably work for a VERY LONG TIME for manual backups and from boot media but new features tend to not work after a few OS version changes. Even Windows 11 uses the Win-7 Backup and Restore so anything that will work with windows 7 should work with Windows 11 (maybe). Add a registry backup to your tool bag as well. Ive resored my registry a few times and was glad it worked

Acronis is quicker than Macrium as well but it's not by a lot and the file sizes are very close to the same. Mac was a little over 99GB and Acr was a little under . . . and the speed dif would be unnoticable if I didn't time it.

I don't think I've ever tried Active@ Disk Image. I've tested Active@ Boot Disk briefly.

Activ@ Disk Jmage is inexpensive and no restriction on number of computers.
