Solved Where does Windows read the name below the PC name?

Thanks for this, mine said "System Product Name" since I put together this PC, which is a little.. lame.

As per this link:

An OEM device's system product name (ex: "Surface Pro X") usually cannot be changed.

If you built the PC yourself, then there usually isn't a system product name specified allowing you to change the default System Product Name displayed to a custom name you want instead.

You can also change the OEM support info

    ...Where's my horse?
In the OP, not only there's a clear image and an arrow showing exactly my problem, but also I explain it right below:
"The "Zenbook" name above is the one I typed in, but the one below... where is it coming from?"
I did read your first post. I read the part where you said that you typed in the name Zenbook but you didn't say how or where you typed it in. As I stated I never tried to change any of my computer names. I will apologize for my reply being wrong and will make sure I don't do it again.

You don't have to apologize for your wrong reply, and you will do it again, don't worry. Everybody shares wrong info all the time, that's not important.

What annoyed me is you taking offense, when I specifically said none intended, when I basically told you to read the OP, that's all. Told you to read because you suggested something obvious that I already did, THAT I already stated I did in the OP. So, if I don't take offense, which I didn't, to a suggestion that screams "I didn't read the OP but I am replying anyway", then you don't take offense to me saying please read because your suggestion is answered in the OP.

It's all fine, all good, problem solved.

Don’t sweat it. Especially after that response. Besides, who sits there reading the product name in their system info?
Me, who likes to take control of what's shown, who likes to customize Windows (look at where we at...), who likes to have the hundreds of laptops each year that I work with all correct, neat and correctly tagged.

If I put the exact model name correctly there, it will be so easy for everyone to tell me the exact model, so for example I can find the drivers and BIOS updates very easily, the HW info, specs... Sometimes relatives or clients don't know where to look at, but overall, I want to do it because it's the correct thing to do, to name your PC as you desire, hopefully typing the specific model of your PC.

Look at that, a user up there just thank me for this because, as millions more, the name shown was a generic nonsense tag. Now he can type the correct model name or motherboard there instead some generic useless info.

For my laptop the name shown is: ASUS TUF Gaming A15 FA507RM_FA507RM. Actually ASUS TUF Gaming A15 is the generic part. FA507RM specifies my particular model and year. If I just search for support for ASUS TUF Gaming A15 I get the current model year not the one for mine which was 2022. When it was purchased it was referred as ASUS TUF Gaming A15 (2022). If I search for support for that I get the right page but need to further specify the specific model which is FA507RM. I can save a lot of time by searching for support for FA507RM. I then get the exact support page without even knowing what year it was made. You may think these numbers are meaningless but they are important to specify your exact model.

You may think these numbers are meaningless but they are important to specify your exact model.

As I already wrote in #12 mine is 'Computer op Maat' which translated means about: 'Computer build to specs'.
Which is a fully useless name that the company that build the computer (indeed to my specs) is using for all of his on custom specs built computers. Before this thread was started I did not even note the name...

So I see it as such: if that name/numbers is something like yours, it may be important. But if it is like on my computer, it is fully meaningless!

I don't know if you are talking to me, but what you said is exactly my point and the reason to want to edit that name. I want to put there the complete name and model of the specific laptop I am working with. In desktops I put the exact motherboard model.

The problem with your name is that it is duplicated and that is so ugly and long for no reason. In the example of my current Asus laptop it was duplicated like yours and I changed it to delete the redundant duplication. In other cases, there's just a generic meaningless name that I would change to a relevant model name.

I do think that I needed to apologize for feeling offended. I shouldn't have but I don't see my post as being wrong or nonsense. I just asked a question because I wanted to know more about what you had tried.
