Where have all the humans gone! Particularly at BT/EE

Windows 11 - Updated automatically
Increasingly I am finding that any attempt to contact a human being is being effectively barred by various menus which go round in circles. I am trying to get in touch with EE or BT re a failed WiFi booster disk I got a few months back and can't find anywhere to do it. Send a message just hangs. How do I get a replacement? Recently I had to contact Corel re a payment - that ended up with being bounced between Cleverbridge and Corel.
These are two recent examples but the impression is that this is becoming an increasing problem.
Thank God for this forum!
How do I contact someone at EE or BT re an original faulty BT extender - one of those disc thingies.

Hi mate.

I remember a conversation about this exact thing in here, one or 2 years ago. I believe we all agreed that we’re all doomed.
Software, Govt services, anything and everything is adopting the "Ring a Ring o' Rosie" platform.

Fabler - Thanks but just other ways of getting on the same merry go round!
"The Robot will see you now"
I don't think it was in either. It is the weekend after all!
Maybe I'll have a ratch around my box of past electronics and find an old repeater. It is not a vital WiFi booster as it only gets used 2 or 3 of times a year when my daughter visits and occasionally uses the back room for a bit of work from home. She can always boot me out of my study.

I remember on a gig working for Shell remotely when their Help(less) Desk service went down -- this was for Oil / Geological stuff where I needed some help on a complex issue - not routine I.T problems -- and guess what the response was from "Central Services " --- Please send them an e-mail !!!! and that was way before the convenience of teams / chats etc on modern phones !!!!

Maybe we WOULD be better off if Robots took over -- at least they don't go on strike, don't need holidays, don't get paid and can work 24/7 !!!!

Cheers

@Sigurd

Take the disk to a BT shop. I switched to a BT business account as I needed a static IP. The mods always got problems sorted. BT Business has its own forum.

The wilds of Scotland must be better off than the wilds of Cumbria. Nearest BT shop is over 40 miles away.

In the meantime and totally off subject Eurosport Tour de France cover which we preferred to ITV cover has gone walkabout.

My nearest BT shop is at least a three hour drive from Bettyhill. It's 73 miles, on slow roads.

There are five shops in Cumbria, but branded EE, part of the BT Group

  • Carlisle (Unit 16, Scotch Street, The Lanes)
  • Kendal (Unit 12, Westmorland Shopping Centre)
  • Barrow‑in‑Furness (33 Portland Walk Shopping Centre)
  • Workington (Unit S15B, Washington Square) r
  • Whitehaven (78 King Street)

Give one a ring.

I try not to buy from online shops that don't provide both a physical address and a phone number.
