The build is only in one channel at any one time.
There can be more than one build in testing at any one time but at different channel levels

Dev level issues are most likely to cause issues and crash systems and other software

Beta level issues are likely to be less serious so it is a safer point to enter development

Release Preview is the safest of the release channels and should have very few issues

even when passed to general release, due to the huge range of hardware and software in use on windows systems, software may still contain ~~Nuts~~ Bugs

The same build and its sub builds is sent in tern to each of the channels and passed to the next when it is deemed safe to do so

so as a user you should choose a channel that you feel safe with and stick to it, if you want you can join all channels and keep them running separately

Someone wanting a general look at upcoming software should choose the Beta or preferably the most complete Release Preview channels
You will need to wait longer to see a build to try but you will be safer

why didn't you install windows 11.

I will install a copy of Windows 11 when I am ready to evaluate it for my needs - I've been rather busy recovering from a system crash that meant a complete replacement of my main Desktop .

When ready I will install it in a Virtual Machine using Hyper-V so I can test it without risking damage to my system or more importantly my data - I will upgrade in time but will, as normal, only do this when I feel it it safe to do so - probably after after first major update

That logic makes no sense, more likely your computer or some piece of software caused Win 10 to run slowly and not Win 10 itself. I've actually found that 11 runs so much better than 10

I have found that often the Beta copy will run at least slightly slower that the final release version due to the presence of check and diagnostic code which should be removed before release.

It is often the case that a beta copy will seem faster than the previous released version [in the current Case Windows 10], for the simple reason that we run the new beta version with a lot less of a software load, and also without several years of remnant build up due to installing and uninstalling/ updating software packages

The only real way to check speed of operation is to run a benchmarking system on identical (or the same), systems, on the two operating system either without any additional software or with a specific set of software relevant to it's intended use

Yes.. it is. .100 from the dev is the same as the beta version and I suspect that .120 in the dev will be the same for the beta.

In a discussion about a separate topic, I did notice that the Windows Insider download page already has instructions embedded for Windows 11 users, although the .ISOs available are still only for Windows 10.

I would expect the left side of the full build reference to remain constant and the right side of the build reference to change for each iteration in the build process.

The devices in my account here are my working systems. As I ihave stated previously I am unlikely to have any live devices running win 11 until the first release version is several months old. Until then I will run a copy in a Hyper-V virtual machine for test purposes, I cannot afford to risk my working systems

Of course if you wait for the official release you will require a PC that meets the requirements set out originally by Microsoft for hardware specification, unless microsoft changes their mind and reduce the requirements but I can't see it being removed completely

I doubt MS will change the requirements for 11. As far as I can see they're firm and it's up to the user to meet them. TPM2/Secure boot isn't hard for most who have a motherboard that was made from 2015 on. It might take time to find the setting in the BIOS but it's there.

The disk partition type might be an issue but it's not hard to change to GPT. I did it but I had to do a clean instillation of Windows. I'm sure if I looked around there's a way to do it without formatting the drive.

Here's how to do it..

The processor requirement will be hard for some I guess. Getting a new one isn't in the cards for many but I got one coming in this week, likely tomorrow or Wend.

Just my 2c on this

Most of the partition managers will offer the MBR-GPT conversion service, not sure though if they include the data option that includes lossless I have Aomei partition assistant but Mine is the pro version so all options are available, not sure if Macrium free offers it I'll see what the blub says I think I still have the free macrium 7 somewhere on this system

I use Aomei for backups.. yes.. it helps me out a lot. Having to reload my databases takes a very long time so a backup is a blessing.

And my Ryzen 3 3200G will be here by Wend.

The sad part for me is if MS don't allow the 7th gen Motherboards to be included for Windows 11, I will have a ASUS Z270 TUF Mark 1 with 7th gen CPU and secure boot and TPM all on MB and useless for the upgrade. It just don't make sense that they would not add any system that can run Windows 11 smoothly. What testing do they have to do with the 7th gen systems? They meet the secure boot and TPM. So come on MS and stop this silly game.

It's a personal choice. I am running Windows 11 on my daily use desktop and laptop computers with no issues at all and I like it better than Windows 10, which I like better than Windows 7, and I personally absolutely hated everything about Windows 8. My safety net is system image backups, which every user who has important data should do, regardless of which OS they are using.
