Just checked it looks like Macrium reflect free needs to use a clone operation of an MBR disk to a GPT partition to achieve a conversion.
Microsoft has an option to convert MBR to GPT without data loss but apparently is rather flaky
Aomei Partition Assistant Pro that I have provides MBR to GPT & GPT to MBR without data loss

There was some talk around about some 7th gen processors actually being hybrid 6th Gen chips but not seen any data - last I heard they were still looking at 7th gen to maybe set the cutoff more specifically somewhere in the batch of 7th Gen

what do you think is better than windows 10 or 8/8.1.

My method after getting my pc set up correctly was to go into the dev channel, was immediately offered W11 by Microsoft and later when W11 became available to the beta channel, I changed back to beta. I assume that beta channel users would now be offered W11. I never got as far as an ISO which would have to come from a third party.

That is only partially true. The uupdump.net scripts download all the files in the ISO directly from Microsoft.

Just decided to try and find what would make 7th gen unacceptable rather than 6th or 8th as the break point and according to this well put together piece it gets even more confusing

6th Generation Intel Processors – Skylake​

So it seems there is very little difference between 6th and 7th gen which are not approved and 8 gen which are. It interests me as I have a Lenovo Ideapad 310 with a sixth gen i3 6100U with DDR4

I just checked the volume licensing center yesterday, and 11 is not yet available through that channel. I'm not sure about Visual Studio subscriptions (can't get in right now).

I did the MBR to GPT conversion without data loss, using the Microsoft tool IIRC. I'll have to go looking in 10F, as it was my data drive, since my machine was BIOS based and could not boot from GPT.

And there are other tools, like for *nix, to also carry out the conversion. As with all this stuff, YMMV. And I know you'll have backups in place JiC....

Do you read the blog posts that MS post at all? It is both Dev AND Beta build, it is stable but there is a list of known issues so, yes it has bugs still as you would expect being a Dev/Beta build. Main difference at the moment is that Dev has the newer updated apps whereas Beta does not.

there will be a lot of bugs for those people who don't have hardware component TPM 2.0.
Microsoft has changed its s policy to control bugs not by software but by hardware component TPM 2.0.
So for people who has deceived windows 11 to bypass hardware restrictions to install it on their hardware, are going to face lots of bugs.

The TPM system has nothing to do with bug controls, it's a security device, it simply contains passwords, software keys and such items rather than trust this to windows itself securing them in software.

The Trusted platform Module is exactly what it's name suggests, a modular device providing physical platform for the storage and encryption of system data -- it has no part in the beta program, and indeed is not required to be fitted at this time but will be when the beta program ends and the OS software is released.

It is used in my systems running Windows 10 although it is not a requirement but optional

Earlier versions of the technology were previously used by the larger OEM companies Dell HP, Compaq, Acer Etc to contain the "Embedded Windows key that meant that the laptop or desktop would activate automatically even without an internet connection

AFAIK, there is no official Microsoft ISO for Windows 11 available just yet.
We will get one sometime, but it isn't available right now.
