Bitwarden wins the poll. I know some weren't included but I didn't see many others mentioned frequently, apart from KeePass, but as it doesn't synch I would not consider it a fully featured manager. I'll probably stick with LastPass unless it is wound up and then I will us Bitwarden.

Lol. Password manager and synchronizing are 2 different things.

And with KeePass and other self-managed PW mgrs, the user determines how and where to sync - the user is not stuck using only one or 3 three methods offered by the company providing the software.

Want WebDAV? Go for it. Prefer FTP or Secure FTP? Sure, do it. Want to use Online Cloud serves, public or private (even those associated with a direct paid Cloud subscription, like Azure or Google Cloud, or AWS? Yup, that works too. Want to copy and paste using portable drives? That works too. If you can find a method to share a file, chances are you can get it to work with KeePass to synchronize your database to the devices that need it.

Furthermore, if you think it is OK to trust one company's methods for synchronization, and let them handle it, well, not only do you have LastPass and the shenanigans they have been pulling, but take a look at Arlo security cams - and the sudden dumping of a lot of their older devices from having cloud access and being able to contact emergency services (which requires cloud access). Oh, it's old, we don't want ot support it anymore. (Want to bet a big factor in that is because of the cost of maintaining their own cloud services for their devices?)

If you really think putting all your eggs in one basket and being stuck to one or a handful synchronization services is a good thing, you're setting yourself up for problems.

And if you think that synchronization of your password vault that is purely managed by a third party is a good thing, then I say you are also setting yourself up for problems.

The reason that KeePass works is that it manages the passwords (by definition, that is what a password manager does). The user manages the synchronization.

My passwords are salted and then encrypted with open-souce software. They are impossible to decrypt.

Each to his own.
Anyway, it's my poll!

I myself use Keypass. Always updated and it's from SourceForge so it's free and I've been using it for years with no problems at all.

K..., I've never really investigated password managers before, and I'm certain I don't understand them at all, but, after messin around with Bitwarden for an hour, the whole process seems way too convoluted for me!
I'll shelve it for now

I am a long-time user of RoboForm and then LP, so I have had lots of time to learn, you are right of course, it is complicated to newbies. But I have hundreds of complex and unique passwords and, I think, I am as safe as the paper-only Luddites but with added convenience.
Banking access is only stored in my memory and uses 2FA. I have emailed BW to see if user names and URLs are encoded in their vault.

I have backed up my LP vault but was surprised to find there is no option to encrypt the export! BW offers this. I know the export is offered so that you can migrate to a different password manager, but now I have to be certain that all my passwords are not lurking in Google Drive or OneDrive in plain text.

I've never actually thought about that in the 19 years I've been using KeePass. There's one database file, and it's encrypted. I can't imagine the mentality that would only encrypt part of it, or how it wouldn't have been condemned if implemented that way. lol

I use 1Password (and have been doing so for over 6 1/2 years). Was using the standalone version for over a year then switched to the subscription version in October 2017.

Yeesh, if you have only used one password manager how can you express a preference?

"KeePass database files are encrypted. KeePass encrypts the whole database, i.e. not only your passwords, but also your user names, URLs, notes, etc."

So, how do you synch without a right palaver?

The KeePass application was last updated today with the release of version 2.53

Be careful, the Webpage the quote is from is NOT THE OFFICIAL WEBSITE for KeePass (see the disclaimer at the foot of the page).

The official site is here KeePass Official Page and make no similar statement, but does give very detailed guidance on a variety of synchronisation possibilities. Please also note there are two official versions of KeyPass, which use different database formats, plus a number of forks, one of which KeePassXC I use because it is cross-platform (Windows, Mac & Linux).
