I don't get it!
Too complicated and time consuming for me!

I fail to recognize the added security when I can fill forms, copy and paste, etc., freely within or outside of Windows with no more precautionary measures than if I would copy and paste from Notepad to a dialog box!
I tried Bitwarden and Keeper, it's the same for both...,
... and you have to install an extension for auto-fill, what's the point in that!?

@Edwin, I have 170 different sites in my password manager.
About 40 sites are in my favorites list and I visit them regularly throughout my day.
Each of my passwords is different and a totally random 20 characters that looks like this:

To&W1%0uWQTU$R1^Xpcp

After logging in to my computer for the day, I can load and log in to any site instantly.
The security and ease of use of my password manager is integral to the way I work with my computer.
If I were to work your way, with the insecurity of all my passwords stored in plain text, and the requirement of copy and paste every time I logged in anywhere, I would find that to be, in your words, "Too complicated and time consuming for me!". :eyeroll:

Some interesting discussions.

I am interested what is your view guys on 1Password.

I used LastPass for years and I am testing 1Password now mostly because, I think their unique Encryption Key part of master password.

But, 1Password is lacking 2FA department badly with no real option for hardware tokens as of today.

I'm severely regretting ever starting to follow this thread. Been happily using LastPass for years, never a problem, never heard of anyone having a problem, and now, with my faith severely damaged, faced with the utterly tedious task of setting it all up again in an alternative. Expletive

Hackers have been attacking LastPass for years and no one has lost a password, just a list of emails and the websites they visit. They are encrypted and it is impossible to reverse this encryption IF you use a master password that is not 12345, password or equally moronic.

I'm now using Bitwarden but might go back to LastPass as it is simply better and able to fill more passwords than Bitwarden.

For your master password use a phrase with all the spaces replaced by a letter, symbol or number.

If there are no spaces between the words a dictionary attack on the hash will take billions of years, even with a Cray supercomputer.

My wife keeps all this stuff in a notebook using Pitman shorthand, nothing on her phone or computer - beat that for security!!

What's wrong with Edge's built in password manager?

Anyway, I generate my own passwords and once used Edge remembers them for each site visited. No need to copy and paste here

Are you aware of scale of LastPass incompetency in handling your vault and privacy? There is no going back from that. They are dead in the water for anybody who understands what they are supposed to be doing.

To make things even worse they lost their source code... not sure which is worse but both lead to incompetence beyond what I am willing to work with. I have to deal with enough of those kind of careless behaviors in my Pro life. I am not going to pay someone to be that incompetent with my data when there are alternatives.

Check 1Password. From my initial testing it might be a good replacement for LastPass on functional level even tough it is less advanced in user-friendliness functions but still achieves same level of day-to-day comfort of using it while being more secure where it matters.

I would check your hash iterations settings - you are probably set to laughable 5k, crackable by calculator those days (hello LastPass incopetence - current good practice is 300k and current LP accounts start with 100k, but old ones are still on 5k

, for no reason). Of course I don't have to mention that your master password must be of good quality?

Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet. Spreadsheet saved to USB thumb drive and a copy on external backups drive. Prints out to 7 pages. Kept in a folder in my file cabinet.

Do password managers keep track of all the other login information? Like secret questions (with all wrong answers), my fake alias names and fake birthdays, my many Usernames, and all the such?

I've gotta say, from someone who has never used a Password Manager, I've still gained quite a bit of insight from this thread, both good and bad!
However, for my elementary needs, I've come to the conclusion that a Password Manager is not necessary.
