I have a Lenovo Legion laptop and a Synology NAS. Both are connected to my Eaton 5E850iusb UPS. I bought the UPS in 2021.
My UPS is failing. Last month when the electricity cut the UPS and the NAS suddenly switched off and then the UPS switched on when the electricity came back. That means that the electric relay switch on the UPS is failing because it didn't switch from AC mode to battery mode when the power cut. I ordered a new UPS and it should arrive soon.
Before when I woke up my Lenovo laptop from sleep it sometimes said that battery was empty on the welcome screen and the charging light of the laptop was not blinking when that happened. The laptop shut down when I signed in so I switched it on. It said that the battery was full when I switched on the laptop. Thus the battery was empty on the welcome screen is a wake up from sleep glitch.
Yesterday night I closed the laptop lid before I slept. Today morning when I went to my laptop I saw that the charging light of the laptop was blinking when the laptop lid was closed. I opened the laptop lid and the charging light of the laptop stopped blinking. It said that the laptop battery was empty on the welcome screen and then the laptop shut down so I switched it on. It said that the battery was 0%. I shut down the laptop and I waited a bit and I switched it on. The battery was empty. I disconnected the power wire that goes from the laptop power adapter to the UPS and I connected another power wire that goes from the laptop power adapter to the wall socket and I switched on the laptop. It started charging and it said 20%. I went back to the previous power wire that was connected to the UPS. The laptop continued to charge and now the battery is full.
Another thing is that the Synology NAS was on when I saw that the charging light of the laptop was blinking when the laptop lid was closed.
Also I have an HP 15 laptop. Sometimes when I closed the laptop lid of the HP laptop at night and the laptop slept and I unplugged the power wire then in the morning I found the laptop off because the battery became 0% when the laptop lid was closed so it shut down during the night. That happens every few months and it's because of a sleep bug
I want to ask why did the battery of the Lenovo laptop became 0% today and why was the charging light of the laptop was blinking when the laptop lid was closed? It could either because of a UPS issue or it's the same sleep bug which happened on the HP 15 laptop.
If it's because of the windows sleep bug that happened on the HP laptop and that caused the battery to become 0% during the night on the Lenovo laptop then how come the laptop didn't charge after the battery became empty? That doesn't make sense.
It could because of a UPS issue like maybe the UPS socket that the laptop is connected to was failing. I think that explains why the laptop wasn't charging and it charged and became 20% when I connected the laptop directly to the wall socket by using another power wire. I connected the laptop to a different UPS socket as a precaution.
