Why did Windows 11 Update Downloaded Duplicates?

Hello,

I bought a brand new laptop HP Victus 15-fa1006na Gaming Laptop

I ran windows update like everyone should do at the beginning to keep windows 11 updated and secure however why did windows update downloaded the same duplicate drivers? Is this normal or can I uninstall the duplicates that have the same driver version? If uninstall then how do I do this as windows 11 is not allowing me.

Will having these duplicate multiple same driver downloads cause driver issues? What it is I want to game on this laptop and the last thing I want is issues or interruptions during gaming due to a driver conflict or anything or these extra unnecessary drivers stealing hardware resources that lowers gaming performance. I want my gaming laptop to be clean as possible as I understand unnecessary software/drivers can slow down a computer a lot which defeats the purpose of a gaming laptop right?

What about the 6.0.9556.1 for Realtek Semiconductor Corp. for the 1st and 3rd on that list above in the pic which are both exactly the same with the same driver version. Can anyone explain this one :what:?

Those claim to be extensions. I would guess the version number is the same, because they're both different extensions for the the 2nd one on the list. It appears that the version number is for the update itself, not for the extensions.

And just a guess, but I'd bet the bottom two green ones are the same as the 1st and 3rd... but they show the extension version numbers.



There's five Realtek updates listed, but I'd bet that they only represent three actual Realtek updates (2, 6, 7).
I'd guess it's just sloppy labeling.

Most folks here suggest one should get their drivers from the OEM rather than let Windows Update handle them. On new devices the manufacturer usually provides an app for this purpose. You should have an app named Lenovo Think Vantage. If not go here and enter your serial number to get it. ThinkVantage Technologies downloads - Lenovo Support US.
Let the app keep your system updated and disable getting drivers through windows update. You have Home, use option 2 in this tutorial.

Looks related to a very-old bug (usually seen only on earlier builds of Windows 10 and earlier, down to Vista) There was a bug where it would appear to "spam-install" an update.

Okay I have a HP Laptop, do you know how do I uninstall the device drivers installed through windows update before installing fresh OEM ones?

If I disable device drivers updates through windows update then how do I know what drivers to download manually for my devices in my laptop? Went into Device Manager and there's so many devices I see, so if I disable windows update to update my devices then I have to manually go to all those devices websites to download OEM ones which can be time consuming right?

I'm guessing it's the driver(s) for the Realtek... audio.

As for blocking the drivers included in the Windows Updates... that's fairly easy...

I always block the drivers included in the Windows Updates.

Option #2, here... is probably the easiest method. Reboot after, to apply the changes.

IF... I have a driver that needs updated... I just do it manually.
That way, there's few if any, driver conflicts, which is the usual reason that folks block driver updates.

HP has a tool (online utility), that will keep your device drivers up-to-date. :-)
