Solved why do I get double K: in explorer with this usb drive?

Ok, I deleted the key under DelegateFolders and now the drives appear only once.
Notice J: just shows one time now

I would have run the reg bat file but wanted to see it for myself
Question is why was it there like that and seems random to me, some PC have it and some do not.
I don't think anyone deliberately creates that reg key

All of which there are tutorials for in this forum. I’m fairly certain somebody has already pointed you to them. Also, there are probably subtle changes in the methods between Ten and Eleven.

Doubles can also be removed from save dialog. I may do that. I see no advantage to having doubles showing up seems like confusing clutter.

NOTE: If you are using 64-bit edition of Windows 10, you may notice that the drive icon is still present in “Browse” dialog box such as Save, Save as or Open in some 3rd party 32-bit programs. To remove the duplicate drive icon from there, you’ll need to perform the same steps in following key as well:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace\DelegateFolders
Under “DelegateFolders” key, delete {F5FB2C77-0E2F-4A16-A381-3E560C68BC83} key.

That’s all for now. After following all above mentioned steps, you’ll get a clutter free Navigation Pane in This PC of Windows 10.

Discussed between you and yourself? As hard as it is to keep up with your threads, I do actually read them. All I do is state the obvious, and in this case the obvious is that you’re posting a fix from an external site that was offered in the tutorial given to you.

And as much as I know that things in this forum are not always Gospel, they’re pretty close to it. I have seen no mention that this registry change is undone by any updates (that’s not to say it doesn’t happen) But I would take anything in here over what some so called “Independent Adviser” (or Microsoft Agent or Moderator for that matter) copy and pastes on any Microsoft thread. If there were complaints that it was happening, I’d assume someone would of posted something about it that tutorial thread, to alert Brink.

I have no control over what you think, If you think that I am “Judging you” you would be mistaken. Criticism of anything (good or bad criticism), in my case anyway, is not judging.

And if you can’t take a ribbing about the fact you post and have conversations with yourself, my bad, I humbly apologise, I will cease to do so. I meant no harm.

Funny how, for half a decade, the question has been:
"Why is my thumb drive showing twice in the Navigation Pane?"
and the perpetual answer is always:
"Here's the reg hack to fix that!"

No one has ever answered the Why!

The why in this case is simple: MS devs designed File Explorer that way. Now, as for the question “Why did they do that?” … well, ~~God~~ MS only knows!

I pin only necessary Parent folders to Quick Access and displace the rest with WinaeroTweaker.

I don't really use the Nav Pane though..., if MS would implement Tabs and Explorer hierarchy properly, you wouldn't need the Nav Pane.

I said expand the "This PC", not just click on it. In every instance that you posted above except for the "trouble" computer you have expanded the USB drive itself.

On mine with a single USB external plugged in and only clicking on This PC,

and the exact same only with expanding This PC,

No did not look yet. so here I just looked and the key exists! In the DELL 7530 laptop where no double USB drive shows and I have not changed the registry.

I posted a link where someone had said not to remove that key but add another in a different place, so maybe it is there.

Are there any differences in the OS' ? Windows 11 both? and updates the same?
I'm just trying to understand why one is different.

They are both fully updated win11 pro 23H2 version

I looked at Dell 7530 laptop and there is no key been added according to the instructions under policies
So yeah mystery to me
