Solved Why is my Desktop folder on my E drive

Hi, I've just discovered that my Desktop folder is on my E drive, while C:\Users\Me\Desktop only has some weird orphan Pegasus Mail files. Any idea why? And how to sort it?

Hi Brink, Thanks for the quick reply. Why do you suggest option 3 rather than option 2?
I can't imagine how I could have moved it by drag and drop.

No. In option 3, I ran the bat file and things opened and closed, but only part of the desktop now shows and nothing has moved.
I then tried option 2, only to find I don't have a Location tab in Properties. So I Googled this and got 4 videos showing how to get it back by adding a new key to the registry - 3 just whisking a new name for the New key out of nowhere without saying how to get this name, while the 4th gave a key name to paste in. However, I then found that that key already existed! So am a bit stuck at the moment.

This is normal with option 3. You'll need to manually copy back what you want from the old E drive location to the default one.

Thanks, Brink. I've copied everything over. It's very strange that it loaded half of my icons after I'd run the bat, but hadn't copied anything over.
Now I'll have to try to get the Locate tab in Properties to appear. The key for it seems to already be at the right place in the registry, which is odd.
Update. Renamed the one on the E drive Desktop and went to bed. This morning there was no Desktop in Users/me, but stuff loaded normally! Moved it from the E drive back to Users/me and it seems to be behaving. Have now deleted the E drive folder

Most desktop icons usually reside in

c:\users\public\desktop (which by default is hidden).

Moving your profile desktop will have no impact on the icons displayed in the public desktop folder.

I always move my desktop icons from my profile desktop to the public desktop (which I also unhide), so I can sort all icons in alphabetical order, otherwise you get two sorted lists in effect - one for public folder followed by one for personal profile.
