WiFi extender(?) for outside

Here's the need... I have outside bird feeders with camera. As soon as I move the feeders outside home about 40ft from WiFi router they lose connection. I then added extender inside home which is only 20ft from feeders. WiFi shows 4+ bars

My network setup-cable modem w/WiFi in home
Wired from inside home to detached garage with Wifi router as AP. It's a metal garage so signal is weak outside garage

I'm thinking to add outside AP wired to garage router
Open to suggestions which to buy and if this will work?

Son-in-law has same feeder 100+ FT away from home and it works. another idea what could be interfering with signal, but other wireless work OK outside around home. I'm waiting for another feeder as current could be faulty???

Will the birdcam feeder operate correctly inside the garage near the AP without the metal wall in-between it and the AP?

Also, you might want to try WiFi Analyzer (open-source) App on your mobile to run a quick field-strength survey around the outside of your garage.

There are a number of outdoor devices such as this one that can work in extender, AP, and repeater modes. There are cheaper ones, too. Amazon.com

All of my networking equipment is pretty old. We managed to get a strong wifi signal up to 150ft outside the house using an old router in the garage configured as an AP,. However, my husband wanted to stream TV into his man cave which is a room inside his 100% metal shop about 50 ft from that router and the signal would not make it through the metal.. Luckily when he built the shop he ran TV coax and land-line phone cable through buried conduit. He used some kind of plastic bag method to pull a ethernet cable thru that existting conduit. Now he streams through ethernet. If I ever feel like it, I am going to try connecting that cable to another old router configured as an AP to get wireless into the shop but my expectations are I will run into the same problem again. Wireless signals just don't like bouncing off of metal. He has problems using his cell phone in the shop, too.

You might try changing channels to start, that would verify if some specific interference is causing the issue.

One other possibility is to provide an opening through the garage wall and move the birdfeeder antenna inside where the Wi-Fi router is located. Our feeder antennas use SMA connectors. UPDATE, was sent new feeder and stays connected but signal is weak.

I'm not sure how I have the TP-Link(Archer AX-1800) setup in garage and will check.
I like the WAVLINK AX1800 ,mentioned above and if I have Wifi in garage got choices
1-just turn off WiFi on TP-Link and still use LAN ports for wired devices PC and security cam
2- remove TP-Link, install switch for WAVLINK and wired devices PC and security cam which should simplify network
