Win 11 laptop taskbar now all black. START button not visible

So what happened? :scream: And how do repair the taskbar? :oops: I'm typing this message from my still Win 10 desktop. Will be converted probably in early March.

The laptop is 2H23 but I can't tell the specific release version because I can't actually start any programs, except for hte programs for which I have desktop shortcuts.

CTRL + Shift + Esc should bring up Task Manager. Under Processes scroll down to Windows Explorer and right click to select restart.
Hopefully the taskbar will now load ok.

I was just reminded of a possible taskbar fix by member @Radical924

Press Win + X to open the context menu and choose Windows PowerShell (Admin).

Step 2: Type (or click to copy) this command –

Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$ ($ _. InstallLocation) \ AppXManifest.xml”}

and press Enter.

You should be able to open your start menu via the Win key to open a browser and view Eleven Forum

With anything to do with task bar or start menu, the first question I always ask is do you have any 3rd party app that alters the GUI installed? If so, either update it or uninstall it.

You could press WIN+r and type winver then press enter.

Unforuntately, even rebooting didn't fix the problem. But thanks for the reply.

All is OK now. I played around a bit with themes, andwhen I restored one of the default themes, the task bar was visible again. :-)

YES!!! I had a problem recently where when I was typing a comment in to Youtube, It was typing black on black. I kept fiddling around with those things and suddenly it worked. Think of how much time computers save us!!! ;)

Back then I remember hearing that the "Office of the Future" was just as likely to be paper-free as the Bathroom of the Future.
