Microsoft has stated That the upgrade to Windows 11 will be phased in starting with the Insiders and then most compatible.

Assuming that your system meets all the requirements for hardware You should be offered it by the end of the second quarter of 2022

of course if you do not wish to wait or your system is not fully compatible you can manually install at any time - the ISO is available from Microsoft directly - of course you will not be offered direct support from Microsoft for non compatible devices, though updates are provided

I am using an Dell XPS17 9700 and have been offered the upgrade for some time due to being a long term Insider member

Thanks for your reply. Yes my system ticks all the boxes with regards to h/w requirements of Win 11.
My friend using Dell Inspiron 15 5000 got his update last month, he purchased this laptop last year whilst mine (XPS 13 9380) is now 2 years old so may be that's why the wait in my case. I am not sure if he is registered in Windows Insider program, will ask him on that.

There should not be any reason that you would not receive the update, though Microsoft's reasoning does not always seem logical - If you decide to proceed on your own there are links to the latest versions posted in the News Section and tutorials to explain all the options.

Only thing I would recommend is that you make a system image of your current working Windows as the ten day revert to previous option is a little short (though it can be extended a little), the image will take away the need to rush to a decision

I will wait for the updates to arrive, when I click on the 'Get ready for Win 11' banner in settings > windows updates it says

We’re working on it

We’re doing some extra testing to make sure Windows 11 is ready for certain PCs - yours included.

I will mark this thread as solved now, cheers mate.
