Solved Win11 The new automatic bitlocker

Where can I later find this key if I cannot get into bios? If even possible. For the case where I help a friend and the person has no idea what that key even is and win11 ask for it during boot. Thank you.

Hmm ok. The user bought a laptop and just went next/next/next. Seems not to be a step that backs up the key in the installer? He then hated the MS account login thing and found out how to make a local user, and use that and forgot about the online account and the email used. Thank you for confirming.

the forgotten sign in details maybe there.

The recovery key is saved automatically to the Microsoft account of the first administrator to sign in with one.

If that doesn't happen then Device Encryption is not activated.

Just remember that he/she could have setup a Microsoft Account using their regular non-MS email. If that is the case he/she can try and log in to MS with that email. If they forgot the password, they can ask for a password reminder.

Hi all. Thanks for all the good tips. I managed to get the key by using forgot my username / forgot my pwd and it turned out he did use his real phone. So we found a way in. I have to get used to an MS account on PC. Many 'sync' benefits it seems and I could login cached also.
