Window 11 logs me out when entering data.

Since I upgraded to windows 11 (23H2, 22631.3296) from windows 10 , if I let the pc Idle for a little while and then try to enter data into a form, it logs me out. It doesn't matter if it is a web form or a local form on my pc. it will log me out again, when I try to enter data if the pc is idle for about 5 min. if I don't enter data it doesn't log me out. ms surface.

You'll need to go into Power Settings and under the Power Plan, Always Plugged In:

Change the Display to Never

Change When The Computer Goes to Sleep to Never

If that doesn't work, go into Advanced Power Settings and click Hard Disk

When Windows Should Turn Off The Hard Disk

Under Always Plugged In to Never

That should keep Windows from logging you off.

As a last resort, you can enable the hidden Display Console:

Type this in your Registry Editor address bar:

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings\7516b95f-f776-4464-8c53-06167f40cc99\8EC4B3A5-6868-48c2-BE75-4F3044BE88A7

On the right side of regedit, find the field named attributes - double click it and change the value from 1 to 2. Click ok.

Go back to Advanced Power Settings

Go to Display. Click until you see the Console.

Under Always Plugged In the default value is a minute. You can set it to something like 1440 before it logs you out.

Unfortunately that did not work.
it only logs out when entering data . It will stay logged in as long as I don't try to enter data.
I read somewhere that If I have 2 copies of ms office installed, that could cause a problem, but I cannot find that post anymore.

I really, really doubt that is the cause.
I've had two versions installed and have never seen a problem.
Install and use different versions of Office on the same PC - MSSupport

I wonder if your fingers are slipping or there's muck under some keyboard keys and you are unknowingly triggering a logout keyboard shortcut.

Thanks for the reply. This has been happening for about a year. It does matter what key i hit. also I am a one finger typist.

Is there a log I can look at to see if i can tell what is happening?

None that I know of.

I know how to find the time of a logoff in Event viewer but that's all.
