Windows 10 to 11 Upgrade - question about Windows.old folder

Going to be updating to Windows 11 ideally sometime this week. My understanding is it will create a windows.old folder which will allow me to revert to Windows 10 should I need to, and it will be kept for 10 days before being deleted automatically. I am wondering if I wanted to keep it longer, would renaming the folder allow it to be kept indefinitely, and would I be able to revert back to it should I need to say, 90 days down the road?

I plan on doing a clone (spare drive) and system image before upgrading to Win 11, so this is more of a question of curiosity than something I would use.

I'm still using Macrium Reflect for clones. I have the old free version. I will have to check and see if it can do an Image as well. Otherwise, for free software, what is the best out of those for a system Image?

Macrium used to be free and now has a fee.

Someone may know a website with a free version.

Many members moved to Hasleo (free).
