Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 13 years?
I used the Enablement Package myself. I got tired of waiting on Microsoft.
Same here.
Updated my Specs: Windows 11 Pro (x64) Version 23H2 Used Enablement Package (build 22621.2861) Build stayed the same.

You only installed "KB5027397" and that's all?
If KB5027397 is the enablement package then, yes.

It comes as a .zip file, extract it then click on the icon the extraction creates, the rest is automatic, if your machine doesn't restart do it manually.

Takes ~5minutes to complete, the files have been on your machine for a few months and just needs the key to unlock them.

On my new one-week old Windows 11 machine, the first thing I did was to fully update it. It updated to 22H2 but no further and I am not being offered 23H2. I've read that full support for 22H2 will end in February 2024 and the Microsoft advice is to update to 23H2 before then. There is clearly a reason why I'm not being offered 23H2 so to avoid problems, I'm reluctant to download and install it manually. Does anyone have any further advice as to why 23H2 is not being offered automatically?

Like all "feature updates", Microsoft is rolling it out gradually... in phases.
They've been doing this... the whole time, for the feature updates.

You can do the following, and suffer no ill effects...

1. Make a full Windows backup, saved on a storage drive.
2. Apply the 23H2 Enablement Package.
3. IF... there's "any" problems... just restore from the backup you made.

Thanks. I'll wait a few weeks before trying this, just in case it pops up in the auto updates.

You might want to download the enablement package.
In a few weeks it'll be buried in the Windows 11 News sub-forum. :-)

You can "run" the package whenever, but I would at least download and save it.

On a side note... backup software is a must on Windows 11.
You may not need it today, you may not need it tomorrow...
but you're gonna need to restore a backup... sooner or later. :-)

Just to confirm, the enablement package is the "kb5027397" file, and that is all, correct?

@Ghot , I also found on the internet a way to get the 23h2 editing the local group policy target feature.
Just out of curiosity, have you seen this? And most importantly, is it safe?

I dunno. I'm on Win 11 Home, which has no Group Policy Editor.
But as I mentioned above... IMO, the Enablement Packages are the way to go.
They're easy and they work. Best of all... it doesn't matter what settings you use in Windows Update. :-)

Every time I see an Enablement Package, I grab it. They remind of of a guy on the street corner, saying...

Psst - wanna buy - blank.png
