Windows 11 23H2 Update on Lenovo ThinkStation P920

OS
Windows 11
Before update: 2X Intel Xeon Platinum 8160 each has 24 cores, 48 threads all seen by Windows 11

After update: Windows 11 23H2 can't seem to keep track of both processors and all 48 cores and 96 threads. The bios allows for setting how many cores each processor utilizes for varied workloads. Windows 11 23H2 can't keep track. I know this for sure, because I recovered from backup from 11/6/2023 prior to the 23H2 update and it works fine again. It wanted to update with 23H2 but I was able to "Pause" and make it not install the already downloaded update and pause updates for one week to start with.

Now awaiting for news this problem has been corrected.

Hello @ArchDave and welcome to ElevenForum. :-)

Good thing you had a backup. :-)
It scared me a bit when I shut it down and it started doing some kind of update. But, after starting it this morning they were apparently .NET Framework and Defender Antivirus updates only. Whew! Task Manager is still reporting 2 processors, 48 cores and 96 threads, another whew! And the pause is still in effect. I can slow down and breath a little, now.
I did the last bios update again before shutting down the recovery from backup, thinking maybe it would help, but didn't. So, I will take your suggestion and try to hunt down any more updates. Not too hopeful on that idea, they are old Skylake processors from Q3'17.

Just the "chipset" driver(s).
On Windows 10 and 11, due mostly to security patches implemented by Microsoft, manufacturers have been updating the BIOSes and the chipset drivers... just to keep up.
