Hello.

This is a list of small glitches/regressions I have found so far after updating Windows 11 to 24H2 (from 23H2)...

1. There is a webview2 issue if you run sfc /scannow. It gets repaired but it is coming back after each reboot. Updating MS Edge didn't make any difference.
2. If you change a driver requiring a reboot under device manager, you will get the notification popup twice. If you click on the first one, you won't be able to close the properties sheet.
3. Select all was CTRL-A under 23H2. Now it's CTRL-E (as with older Windows versions).

Please feel free to expand this list with your findings.

SFC is already fixed in the Release Preview (Insider channel), so we should see the fix in November?

Disk Cleanup is also broken in 24H2. There's 8.63GB of junk that it can't remove. But the 8.63GB isn't really there.

Not sure why you're getting that. Works as normal for me.
I can't imagine them changing it, it's universal.

CTRL + E opens the Search Quick Access pulldown menu in Window Explorer or places Focus on the top right search bar. As always.

Maybe because I have frozen updates and I am on 26100.1742

EDIT. I dont recall select all ever being Ctrl + E. I must live a deprived life.

Sounds like MS marketing BS to me.

I always check my right click properties sheet on my C:\ drive before I do an update(s), and then again after I run CCleaner and Disk Cleanup... before making a fresh backup. (OCD don't ya know).

Anyway... before 24H2, C:\ was consistently about 35.4 to 36.8GB.
After 24H2... it was down to 34.2GB.
And my Windows 11 is pretty much stripped down.

gHacks is great... I check them every day. But sometimes... I think they believe MS's marketing a bit too much.
Thank gawd I... (who doesn't believe anything MS says), am around to catch these rare occurrences. :D

Ofc course... there's no way to "know for sure" until we see a "consensus" from a whole pile of tech sites.

You really think so? I don't think it is.
I have 'updated' the current Dev version to the Canary one and the cleanup wiped out everything.
The difference between the two branches is that Dev has been offering CUs up until the last release.
Now why would one branch 'correctly' remove leftovers whilst the other wouldn't if this was a bug?

I dunno.

For example... I never thought that "Storage Sense" itself, was something that anyone needed.
Seemed more like just adding more chrome to a car, that was still just so-so underneath.

Granted, it could just be disillusionment on my part.
But I won't be betting the food or rent money on it's veracity, any time soon.

There were quite a few things in Win 11 in general, that my intuition (and nothing else), said: "Yeah.... right", about...
so I just turned them off.

But I'm gettin' old.
It may be time to retire to the rocking chair on the front porch... if I had either. LOL

I'm with you on this - there is a bug and they are bull crapping to pretend it is not.

I see no sign of the 8GB bug. It affects some and not others.

As for sites like Brinkmanns - they used to be really good but now regurgitate MS garbage as clickbait.

I have this bug in two Windows 11 24H2 installations, one on the PC and the second in a VirtualBox virtual machine.

I have run Disk Cleanup, but the issue remains.

Duh! I don't have any bugs or problems in Windows 11/Pro/64, 24H2 at all. And I've installed it at least a half a dozen times, so far.
OH, I almost forgot, I don't get my Windows ISO's from MS. Maybe that's why they just WORK, and FAST too.!!!

Running HYPER-V with a Linux VM on latest release of 24H2 - can no longer ping HOST machine or access any files on it even with Bridged (external switch) networking so both on same subnet. Host machine can Ping Guest and share / transfer files to / from the Guest. Nothing at all changed on the Linux Guest.

As a test I booted up the previous release of 24H2 and no problems -- so some regression / networking thing has changed. Note Host is the "standard" not Insider preview version.

One thing I've found, as a StartIsBack user, is that whatever hack was being used so that clicking the Power/Battery icon in the system tray to open/select a power mode like in Windows 10 no longer works. Instead, clicking it brings up Quick Settings, which does nothing for me.
