Windows 11 Pro 24H2
I just had to set a new VM with Windows 11 24H2. I wanted to bypass requiring a MS account but couldn't remember what the new method was. I finally found it in a YouTube video. The method I used was
Shift-F10
start ms-cxh:localonly
I just found it discussed in a thread back in May. Was there a tutorial created that showed the new method or methods?

Just use Rufus
Why? I downloaded the Windows 11 24H2 ISO from Microsoft and used it to setup a Windows 11 Pro VM with VirtualBox. The bypass worked fine. Using Rufus was totally unnecessary.

After I entered the bypass command a box popped up allowing me to create a local account instead of a Microsoft one.

Bypass.webp

Of course if I needed to bypass the Windows 11 hardware requirements then using Rufus would be necessary.

I setup the Windows 11 Pro VM on a computer that itself has a CPU that is not supported by Windows 11. VirtualBox doesn't care about that. If I decide to install Windows 11 on it I will use Rufus to create the flash drive to bypass the hardware requirements.

Tutorial-wise, it's mentioned in dacrone's comprehensive list of methods here.

Rufus can now enable the BypassNRO reg key. So it's the same as the script, without needing a script.

The method I used was simply
Shift-F10
start ms-cxh:localonly

dacrone's comprehensive list shows something similar but more complicated
JAVA Method: (Credit: @thepineapple )
* On screen that shows "Is this the right country or region?"
* Press CTRL + Shift + J (Click on the graphic on the left of the screen to shift the focus. THEN press the key combination).
* A Java console will be opened. Enter the command below.
*Case Sensitive*
WinJS.Application.restart("ms-cxh://LOCALONLY")
* Make sure that the console is still the active window by clicking on it, then press the ESC key. This will close the console but you will see a new panel on the screen that looks like this:
I have found exactly the method I used in other threads.
Integrate new OOBE bypass (ms-cxh:localonly) in a autounattend.xml script??
A new way to create a local user account - better than oobe\bypassnro
Windows 11 Microsoft Account Bypass: New Method (Works with Internet!)

Sure I could have searched the threads and eventually found this information. However, I thought that one of the purposed of the tutorials was to make this unnecessary.

I am just wondering why there is not a tutorial that has this updated information. After all the old methods don't work anymore. It would have saved me and probably others a lot of work.

The easy way (for W11 Pro @ above) is still in the bog standard OOBE phase -- choose work/school computer --->--- domain join and then you just enter user name as local user (no need to even have a domain !!).

This to me seems always the easiest by far -- 100% total bog standard Windows, no reg hacks, special commands needed etc - and works with "Modified" i.e Rufus type modified Windows install usb sticks, standard i.e untouched Windows install sticks - / isos - rufus made, uupdump made or from ms itself, and immaterial whether you use dism /Apply-Image to install or standard setup.exe to install Windows. It also works whether you install to physical vhdx files or standard windows partitions.

What's not to like about that method !!!! -- OK not for W11 Home but I don't have that and I suspect most users on this Forum will have W11 Pro or above - especially if they tinker around with Windows.

That wouldn't have worked for me even though I was installing Windows 11 Pro. I didn't even get as far as selecting work/school computer. I was stopped because I had my network disconnected. The script allowed me to bypass that also.

Ok that's fine if no network connectivity -- Usually people do have some sort of network if installing / modyfying Windows so these alternate methods should say "Good if installing without Network / Internet"
