The wretched thing works and how many people spend a lot of time looking at the boot screen.

Hello!I downloaded the iso from the official website and it is the Build Service pack 1742.

Unfortunately I have already formatted both SSDs, because every time a "major version" of Windows comes out, I always prefer to format and not update over the current installation.I am having problems only with sfc /scannow, which always presents corrections at every system reboot.

Then, also with the command DISM.exe /online /cleanup-image /AnalyzeComponentStore

And also with DISM.exe /online /cleanup-image /StartComponentCleanup

As you can see, it starts and stops at 70% and, moreover, as soon as you press enter to give the command, it is almost instantaneous.
I also attach a screenshot of CBS. Every time I restart windows, it always fixes these files.

If anyone wants the CBS.LOG, I'll post it without any problems.


What do you recommend I do? Is this nonsense/stupidity and can I install games and work stuff on both SSDs (one for work and one for gaming) and continue as if nothing had happened, or should I put the 23H2 version back? Thanks!

Well, to be fair, it does look bad and could be seen as a reflection of poor design & a sign of other discrepancies within the OS

Be calm. There is an issue with SFC that people are reporting. I am more than certain Microsoft will get right on it.

Sorry, I meant to mention that I believe there is also currently a problem with DISM
I don't think it will take Microsoft long to address it as they are integral parts of the OS.

Also, with the new Checkpoint cumulative updates, you might not even noticed that it's been fixed but I am sure members will comment on it.

So I continue to install everything I need. Given my ignorance, I thought it was a serious thing. In a few days I will do SFC and DISM again.

A: I used Rufus including the appraiserres.dll and Registry entries
B: My CPU from all accounts I have looked up, is supported. (Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4770K CPU @ 3.50GH)

I tried everything from back when Bree helped with 23H2.

I can however fresh install 24H2 but for the moment don't want to.

Anyway, currently have to zoom out.

You could back up your system first, then you can always go back.

You know what they say, always make backups.

Get yourself a 23H2 install USB, and make a 24H2 install USB (or ISO) with the MCT. Delete the 23H2 \sources\install.esd (or .wim) and replace it with the install.esd from 24H2. You can then use the appraiserres workaround (which works for 23H2, but no longer works for 24H2) to do an in-place upgrade using this 'hybrid' install media.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to lid hinges starting to break up this laptop has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.

    Info for 2021-2026:
    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    My SYSTEM FOUR was a 2-in-1 convertible Lenovo Yoga 11e (1st gen) type 20DA, Celeron N2930, 8GB RAM, 256GB ssd. Unsupported device. This has now been sold. It has been replaced by my System Eight.

    My SYSTEM FIVE is a Dell Latitude 3190 2-in-1, Pentium Silver N5030, 8GB RAM, 1TB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro, plus Insider Beta, Dev, and Canary builds (and a few others) as a native boot .vhdx.

    My SYSTEM SIX is a Dell Latitude 5550, Core Ultra 7 165H, 64GB RAM, 1TB NVMe SSD, supported device, Windows 11 Pro 24H2, Hyper-V host machine. Updated to 25H2 on 30th September 2025.

    My SYSTEM SEVEN is a Lenovo Thinkpad T580, Intel Core i7-8650U, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD + 2nd 512GB NVMe SSD, a supported device for Windows 11. This is my current general purpose 'main machine'. The installed Windows 11 Home from my System One has been migrated to this machine.
