Well i fear we will end up with another rushed Beta straight to release again. They really need to let the beta users at it.

The Dev build is the first step. And it is much more polished than any brand new jump Ive seen them put out before.

Do I think they're being overly-optimistic? Yes.

Do I think it needs more time? Yes.

Do I think it will be usable by 2022? Surprisingly, yes.

I have to admit that I'm very impressed with Windows 11. For the first Dev release it's working very well. I'm can't wait for the next release to see what improvements MS makes. I know a lot of users want MS to unlock the taskbar.

I would like to see MS fix the need to click on more options in the new File Explorer. Right now I have the old File Explorer. I lost the new File Explorer when I did a Macrium restore. Unless I need to do a restart to get the new File Explorer didn't work.

Impressive first build for sure, running it as my only OS on the pc since it came out and guess what, running sweet with no drama. It doesnt need to be fully ready until launch, but its def usable in 2021, Personally the only thing i want that it aint got yet? Direct storage, Other than that, for me its better than win 10

Also remember that, typically, Microsoft releases an OS to manufacturing (aka OEMs) sooner than to the general public.

In the presentation, IIRC, it was stated that you (the viewer, meaning end users) would get it early 2022.

I have tested the 22000.51 ISO both for installing and upgrading on all six of my machines.

Four of them are so far below spec they needed the 'use W10 install media with the W11 install.wim' workaround to get it to install, but once installed it would run well.

Two of them could be upgrade using the ISO alone. Of those two I tested W11 for several hours after an in-place upgrade on a machine with UEFI/secure boot, TPM 2.0, but only a 6th gen i7. I could find no fault with it. Impressively stable for a first Insider Dev build.

I've since restored all my machines to their Macrium image of 21H1, reasonably confident that at least one (and possibly two) of my machines could be offered RTM Win11 on release.

fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.

My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro (and all my Hyper-V VMs).

My SYSTEM FOUR is a 2-in-1 convertible Lenovo Yoga 11e 20DA, Celeron N2930, 4GB RAM, 256GB ssd. Unsupported device: currently running Win10 Pro, plus Win11 Pro RTM and Insider Beta as native boot vhdx.
